That would probably be "no" then. You're right, I probably should have added an option for that.

Explain to me why that is not the responsibility of my hosting companies?

Some of us manage our own sites, you know. Either way I don't care who's responsible for it, I'm just asking if they're accessible over IPV6.

Darn you!!! Now you made me curious enough to know I'm sitting in support chat with all 3 of my hosting companies to get the answer...

                  Ouch!!

3 for 3.... All "Not Yet"...I'm not surprised on 2 of them since they are very small hosting companies I use for a few blogs, but the third one is HostGator. I would have expected them to be ready.

that doesn't surprise me, really. I don't really think a lot of hosts or ISPs have fully rolled out ipv6 yet.

Basically there is no incentive to care. While most of the internet uses ip4 there will always be workarounds. And the workarounds are so good that nobody feels motivated to care.

ip4 shortage is like "oil shortage" - the shorter it gets the more motivated people are to use what they have more efficiency, and the shortage goes away.

I used to work for a company that has an entire A class and are wasting 99.9% of it. One day someone will convince them to sell it and the resulting space will remove the shortage for a while again.

"To add an IPv6 AAAA (quad-A) record, please login to your Network Solutions® account and follow the Advanced User instructions on the Edit DNS page. Your request will be reviewed, authenticated, and processed within 24 to 48 business hours."

Other hosts will have other processes.

APNIC (Asia / Australia) ran out of IPV4 addresses in April 2011.

RIPE (Europe) is expected to run out of IPV4 addresses this summer.

ARIN (N America) is expected to run out of IPV4 addresses in less than a year from now.

The problem is not years away
