Batts: Honestly Earl IS a great show, however this current season has hit the wall from the first episode.

I'm one who pretty much REFUSES to watch pretty much ANYTHING that airs on network TV, (sans my DVD addiction for full seasons lol)

Check out the first 1-4 episodes from the first season and you might change your mind.

The first time I watched Sponge Bob, I was high. I don't think I've ever laughed that hard in my life. I think I hurt myself laughing. Subsequent viewing (sober) have just not been the same.

I dunno, man...

MASH and Friends are both legendary in that regard... I don't think 30 Rock's in that class yet - especially with only one character supporting the true brilliance the show.

Personally, I preferred Studio 60 in regards to backstage humor, but, that show already met its death.

Insofar as My Name is Earl goes, I love that show, but will admit that this season's been kinda "meh" so far. Hopefully it'll pick up.

This season has been a little off, but I suggest watching Season 1 on DVD to understand a lot of the inside jokes, references and character quirks.
