No, but this kid on my block just got one and he's fucking annoying me to no end with the thing, I'm about to run it over. All day, every day; up and down, up and down the street he drives this fucking thing. And it's loud, too, I guess it's gas powered because it sounds like a moped. I'm just gonna have to put up with it until the novelty wears off and he gets a skateboard or discovers internet porn or something.Comment

I had several rc10's but my favorite was a gas powered 45" scarab boat, cost so much to build and went so fast that I was a nervous wreck when I took it out but it was still a lot of fun, my son still takes it out a couple of times a year

I'm not bitter, and I am far from an old man. Imagine someone jumping on a Vespa and riding back and forth past your house non-stop for hours on end. That's what it's like having to listen to this thing.Comment

I don't but I did buy this cool ass little Syma S107 r/c helicopter the other day. Way better than the ones they had 6 years ago for 50 bucks and this one was only $20.
I want to get an r/c car and put some plasic wheels on it so I can drift around a parking lot.Last edited by Jakez; 05-26-2012, 12:07 PM.Comment

Awesome, I just have to figure out where or what they are using for the wheels. I was at a car meet the other day and the guy had one that he was sliding all over the place, he said he had about $1200 into it and the wheels were some type of plastic piece from a sprinkler system. He said if he put some normal rubber tires on it it will hit 70mph.Last edited by Jakez; 05-26-2012, 06:10 PM.Comment

No need to spend anywhere near that much - e10 is about $200 to 300 over here so likely a hell of a lot cheaper over there. Upgrade motor and speedy and that's about another $110 + batterys another $100 or so and you have a fun rocket ship that will slide everywhere (check out xxxupdates post).Awesome, I just have to figure out where or what they are using for the wheels. They make RC simulators for computers that really make the learning curve much easier to deal with.
I started flying back in 1985 and simulators didnt exist and neither did planes that go together in just a few hours. I spent about 40 hours building my first one and destroyed it in less than 30 seconds, mostly because I was 15yrs old at the time and knew everything and didnt need to listen to the older guys at the flying field that were trying to help me out. My first plane was a Quickie 500 pylon racer.
My second plane lasted much longer. It was also a trainer and I decided to listen to the old guys that knew more than me.
All planes have an expiration date though. Its best not to get too attached to one because eventually its going to become a lawn dart for one reason or another.Comment

Those are pretty good choices. I taught my son to fly with one of these and he was landing by himself on the 5th flight. In Las Vegas you just dont have a choice... fly in the wind, or dont fly. It doesnt affect the heavier warbirds that much, or the jets... and that is mostly what I fly. Faster, heavier planes.
The trainer stays inside if the wind is more than 10mph.
The wind is generally calm in the early morning hours, but I dont do early mornings.Comment

I don't have one, but I was shocked to see how expensive these things can be. I used to buy storage units and in one unit I found several gas powered RC cars, some controllers and ton of parts. As I did some research to find out how much to sell them for I was floored by some of the prices.Comment

Instead of buying a little toy, why not buy a real truck and do it for real? I spent $2500 on 1990 4x4 with 33 inch mud tires. It's a blast and a lot more fun...

Why spend the money on that and deal with the cleaning and maintenance issue when you can download a videogame and do everything fun without the headaches.
Because different people like different things

You know, I never understood trucks and never owned one - I'm still not sure why I bought this truck. But it's been great - part toy (mudding and four wheeling), part hauling (three trips to Home Depot today alone!) and part basic transportation (it's now my daily driver). At the same time, I don't know jack shit about fixing cars and I've been fixing things on my own and it's been a real learning experience.
I just don't see the point of owning a toy when you can own the real thing for not much more.Herschel Savage

Personally, I own 4 real actual cars. One is a daily driver and the other three are weekenders and projects - from v8 to turbo 4cyl conversions. I also have a tonne of RC cars - drift / jumping trucks / baja buggys etc - they are a crapload of fun and cost fuck all to fix and and and and...
To be perfectly honest, I look at your ute (it is not a truck it is a ute) and see it solely as a half decent tow vehicle. No fun factor unless of course it is yours, you hand me the keys and I thrash 9 colours of shit out of it

I raced 1/12th scale back in the mid 80's or so. Team associated rc 12I's and 12L's. The club moved onto 1/10th scale ovals but the track was too far for me to keep up.
I've still got a bunch of ROAR magazines from the time.43-922-863 Shut up and play your guitar.

I'm sure they do, they were always great with the 12th scale parts. Right after they came out with their first 1/10th scale truck was when I got out of it, so wouldn't know these days. Electronic speed controllers were fairly new back then. Some guys had resistor/wiper arms with a switch rigged up for reverse.43-922-863 Shut up and play your guitar.
