Right now I am reading Stone Henge by Bernard Cornwell. He writes historical fiction and is very talented. His trilogy called The Saxon Novels was amazing. It was about the invasion of 9th century England by the Danes (or Vikings as they are commonly referred to). Awesome books. -

Life of Pi, right now. Went to Barnes & Noble the other day, and tried finding books that I wouldn't normally read, 'cuz I'm running out of books written by authors that I know. Ended up with Life of Pi (interesting so far), Kavalier & Clay, and The Gun Seller (how can you go wrong with Hugh Laurie?).
Great set. Hope he keeps writing them. I started on the show, and moved on to the books. I'm glad there's not much overlap past the first season/book. Gives me that much more Dexter.
Oh, and if anyone hasn't read it, I have to recommend The Time Traveler's Wife. Fantastic story.Comment

The Ultimate Space Hit or, USH 1X by Ooh the Sloth. I know, why would you ever pick up a book by an author named Ooh the Sloth? but it is actually quite good.
it's about a boy, Sonicboy Wellbutrin, who comes from a planet called Ravulon, where they hold Raves all day and night. he thinks there is more to life than partying, so he goes in search of other planets that hold other values higher than partying. it's a fun book written in kinda the Chuck Palanuik style (Fight Club) and makes one think about our own culture and what we value.Comment

I too am on an Historical Fiction kick. I read "I, Elizabeth" and then went on to read the Tristan and Isolde Trilogy and am working through the Guenevere Trilogy. I'm also reading a book called The Poe Shadow which is about the death of Edgar A. Poe.
AND I just finished reading a travel book called "Getting Stoned with Savages" which was great. The same author wrote a book called "The Sex Lives of Cannibals" which I think I may pick up next.
I tried to read Barak Obama's "the Audacity of Hope" but jesus, does the guy know how to punctuate a sentence? I swear some of his sentences go on for an entire paragraph - literally. You can easily get lost in his verbiage. May try it again later, but wow. Not impressed so far and I was hoping for so much...Comment
