I got a kitten last week (6 weeks old) and i figured something was wrong when we got her. She seemed very nervous and it looked like she didn't have much vision at all, and was bumping into most things in the house.
At first i figured it was just a sleepy kitty, but it became clear something wasn't right.
So being the weekend, the local vets were closed, so we took her to the Vet Hospital in the city.
They told us outright, the cat was 100% blind. They offered to have her put to sleep, or asked if we thought we could give the kitty a decent enough life, we could see how we go and maybe decided later if we didn't think it was working out and fair on the kitten. I got charged £120 from the vet.
After debating about it, we decided to get a 2nd opinion from the local vet. After doing some quick tests, they concluded the kitten is NOT blind at all. They told us the kitten needed another couple of weeks with it's mother, and it's familiar surroundings, and then try again and see how it goes after that. I have since took videos of the kitten which 100% prove she can see no problem at all.
After complaining to the orginal vet hospital, and telling them they almost put a perfectly healthy animal to sleep, they gave a small apology, but refused when i told them i wanted my money back, since they got it completely wrong.
Anyone ever had to deal with anything like this happening with their pets ??
It wouldn't be a good advert for the hospital if people knew they could get things as wrong as they did. I wonder how many pets they have put to sleep which didn't have much wrong with them...
