Well it sucks for everyone if their house burns down or is flooded...but I have my own problems and dont want to pay for theirs! I live in SF and if an earthquake hits here I dont expect the guy in FL to pay for it. It was my decision to live here..Risk vs. Reward!

Doubt the imbecile himself can do much, but the "mechanisms" for support appear to have rolled into place and better than the N.O. fiasco - tho, at least so far, - it's hardly in the same league as Katrina.
But... the main support time has not happened yet - the aftermath, - there is plenty time to screw up yet.
Ya got to wonder why developers elected to build homes on dry scrubland hillsides which are candidates for fires of this kind. But... some folks live on the San Andreas Fault and others at the foot of volcanoes - life can be a mystery

I blame Bush for a lot of shit, but this isn't one of them. This is really just a perfect storm of shit being flung on California. They have the worst possible weather conditions for fires, including 90 MPH winds blowing fires faster than they can be fought.
It's California, fires happen, it's just part of life. There is nothing Bush can do to slow it down.Comment

All the elements are there and we can't compete against extreme weather conditions. It's the complete reverse here - the height of the rainy season and the problem is more landslides in certain areas. Developers will insist in not thinking straight and denuding hillsides, then whatever "development" slides down into mud. A few people have been killed so far, but the situation is settling down now.Comment

No I agree with you. They the feds will only come and fuck things up even more. But in a case like this the national guard should be doing something other than fighting a war in Iraq.
BTW its not global warming that caused this fire. It was the Green movement and their mismanaging of the forests and under brush.
