Okay I think that breastfeeding is a good thing but this looks a little silly. The kid is standing on a chair to get to the tit. When you can no longer cuddle them or hold them in the right position I think that should be warning enough that its time to move on. Many 3 year olds are already in preschool etc. and this one is still latched on. Bet hes not potty trained either.

Really not relevant that some of you think the kid is too old to be breast fed. I have known parents that did it longer than 3 years. They had their reasons, so not our place to judge.Comment

I don't have a problem with attachment parenting (the REAL issue here)
We do it with our baby and I did with my other kids and my first wife.
I've manged to raise happy, healthy kids.
The picture itself is horrible. It doesn't represent the reality of breastfeeding.
To those saying that 3 is too old, what should the limit be. You do realize mother's milk is pretty much the perfect food (unless of course the mother is an alcoholic meth head)?Comment

When a kid starts growing up he/she needs more than just mother's milk. That's why teeth start growing, nature is letting you know it's time to vary your diet and giving you the tools to do it.

realistically, a child could receive benefits from mother's milk with the diet until 6 or 7.
Most kids ween themselves at about 18 months anyways...why a rush to get them off the boob before they are ready?

Once you're two years old usually you have your first set of teeth. I would say that's a pretty good indication it's time to give it up.
I completely agree that breast feeding is the best thing to do with babies and I agree that it's a vital bonding experience. But allow me to give you another important bonding experience: potty training.
Changing diapers and wiping your kids' ass when they're little is an important bonding experience, yet nobody talks about that. Why? Because it's not as controversial as breast feeding, after all breasts are involved.
