    Are all car salesmen cunts ??

    Seriously, if they'd stop with all the bullshit and actually let you look around for yourself first, then maybe properly assist you, rather than feeding you all the usual lies, you'd maybe consider giving them the sale.

    As it is, i just spent another afternoon listening to the same assholes saying the same shit.

    Must be part of the job description. "Are you a cunt ?? Yes!" Congrat's you have the job!!

                  Last 2 cars I bought I must have got up and walked away 2-3 times. I bluffed a little about dealer down the road being at a certain price, had them throw on a few k in accessories as well, very happy with last 2 new car prices I paid but got them by being a complete prick.

                  Last new one 1 1/2 years old and when I look up blue book cars worth a few more K than I paid and I put 0 down kinda confirming I robbed them as the first payments are generally just killing off interest, last time I went to the dealer my sales guy said "not this guy" so he still remembers me.

                  With so much info online now pretty easy to have price comparisons/quotes on hand from multiple dealers when ya walk in and getting up once or twice doesn't hurt as that usually gets shit thrown in. Run a search and receive multiple quotes, grab the 3 lowest call them up and say no bullshit buying today give me your best price and tell them when you hang up your calling the other 2 dealers. You will have all 3 calling you to see if anyone beat their price so basically you're letting them bid against each other.

                          Last car I bought new I happened to talk to one of the managers who of course also sells cars. It worked out really well, because most of the time he had better things to do and just gave me the keys, and let me take it as long as I wanted over several weeks. He'd answer questions when I had them, but otherwise left me alone. In the future I'll look for a manger when looking at cars - they have better things to do than bug you too much. Made it much nicer buying a car!

                              we get that you don't like the car salesman, but your choice of that word is pretty inappropriate, you could have said "all all car salesmen assholes?" or "are all car salesman dicks?"

We walked out of two places because they were pulling that shit. The last place we went a guy walked up introduced himself. He said look around, you need anything im at that desk. I bought a car from him.

                                                                  same here with my first vette... the guy pulled all the sales records and showed me what the other guys were paying so I would see what I was getting, BTW most guys that buy vette just walk in and say "I'll take the blue one" and don't really fuck around with sales guys

                                                                      Yep. Many car salespeople are desperate / willing to give a lot on price when pushed to get a sale...

                                                                      That's where the "Business Manager" / "Finance Officer" / "Sales Manager" / etc come in to protect the profit margins. Those are the people to really watch - they can add tons of extra cost while working their magic fooling the buyer in thinking they got a great deal.

                                                                      When ever I buy cars, I ultimately negotiate to the "Drive Away Price" - let the dealership figure out the taxes, delivery, doc fees, etc ... sometimes comedy ensues watching numerous people working desperately to calculate that final number, since it can get tricky when calculating in some things, such as sales tax.

                                                                                  Don't you just love the up-sells like the "special" paint protection. They tried to sell me the "Desert UV Protection" package that was basically Pep Boys wax. I told them I didn't want it and they said it was already applied. I told them to find me a vehicle that didn't have it. "OK, we'll just waive that upgrade". Gee, thanks!

                                                                                  It's amazing that they can charge $150 for Turtle Wax.

                                                                                                  One time in Phoenix we had this young Hispanic kid who - I kid you not - was just promoted out of the detail department. I went in to buy a new SUV for my wife, but also saw a new Mustang I liked. We ended up paying cash for both. Kid was cool as hell really.

                                                                                                  I also had a friend of mine who worked at a Ford dealer down in San Diego. I was big into Mustangs then, Cobras and what not, and we took a Saleen out for test drive. He's like "Okay, don't go above seventy here because the cops are all over" and seconds later I'm doing 130 while he was crapping in his pants.

This meant finding market values of cars so I dealt with a lot of car salesmen and it seems like about 90% of them are cuts.

                                                                                                              A friend of mine once bought a truck and he negotiated heavily with them. He even walked away and told them to call him if they decided to accept his offer. When he got home there was a message on the machine waiting for him. He goes back to buy the truck and as he was about to sign the contract he says, "I think my signature is worth $100 don't you?" They asked what he meant and he told them he was only going to sign if they gave him $100 cash so he could take his girlfriend out to dinner and movie in his new truck. They gave him the money and the sales manager said to him, "I don't know if I should hate you or offer you a job." He replied, "I'm not sure if I should be offended by that or not."

                                                                                                                                  I researched online the cars I was buying, got my pricing models together and generally when I walked into a dealership knew the car I was looking for and what price point + a general idea of my monthly payment I would do. All before I rolled into a dealership.

                                                                                                                                  At the dealership my line after the general pleasantries was: I am buying a car today and I have 2 hours to do this. If you need a manager or whatever else, let's get them now to talk biz. If I cant roll out of here in 2 hours ... then Thank you and I am off to the dealer ( insert name here ) that is next on my list. Being a sales professional I want to respect both of our time and not waste time.

                                                                                                                                  This was my mode of ops until 2009 ... worked every time as some reps would give the "manager is on lunch" .. wrapped on other deals, etc. Screw that, I dont want to make this an all day experience. It is a car, not the birth of a child.

                                                                                                                                  2009 and onwards: I buy only BMWs ... Their reps so far here in PA and NJ are just on their game everytime when it comes to getting things done. Same guy has sold me three Bimmers so far and when #4 comes into the picture in a year - Pete will have the biz.

Go in, tell them what you want, what you want to pay and how much time you have and put them to work. If you have the means to get a loan from a bank so you can go in with a check from the bank or you can pay cash for the car (this only works if it is a new car) you ask to talk to the fleet manager. Tell them what you want and ask for the cash price. They deal with big companies on leases an cash buys so they don't mess around and will get you a good deal and be fast in getting it all done.

I found a private broker I use that's transparent with his margins and I let him keep almost 100% of what he is asking every time I buy.

                                                                                                                                                                          I had one say that to me while I was in there deciding whether to buy it or not. Just said 'fine, they can have it' and walked out. Seeing him go white and realise he'd just cost himself a sale was entertaining but if they can't be honest before you've even bought it what will they be like if there's any problems after sale.

                                                                                                                                                                                              I just bought a new car last week, I had done my homework on all the models I was interested in and when I went to the dealership, there wasn't anything they could tell me I didn't know. You'd be surprised how well this worked btw. I straight up told them I was looking at 3 cars and I would choose the car that gave me the best bang for my bucks. In the end the car I got, the salesman was pretty ok with me, wasn't too demanding, he knew I knew about every feature on the car and all about the deal so there was nothing he could say or do.
