    Reminds me of a history I read of the slave days of Charleston, SC... Many slaves who served dinner had to wear muzzles or they were forced to whistle when coming from the kitchen to the dining room. Penalties were whippings and demotion to the fields for rule violators

      I think if restaurants fail a food inspection, they should have to wear the badge of shame on the doors to their restaurants for 1 full year. So if rats were found, there's a rat icon on the door. If someone got food poisoning, a person holding their stomach, etc.

      Restaurants would actually lose a lot of business that way, and so they'd work harder to make sure it never happened.

      Money is the only motivator to a business.
