Members area ideo formats?

    Members area ideo formats?

    What do you use?

    I've been through a few different members areas and found most are offering atleast 3 different formats and then multiple resolutions of each.

    I am setting up right now, so only have streaming mp4.

    Was thinking of adding the following :

    .wmv
    .mov
    .mp4

    Would prefer to go all mp4 due to quality and size though.

    Any suggestions?

      I wish the world would drop WMV. It's inferior in every way. Everyone can stream and download mp4 files on all platforms and devices, no special codecs are needed to play it, and the size and quality is better.

      .mov is for Mac people so if you have a download mp4, you can skip mov.

                  Yep, mpeg4 is based on the mov codec, basically a standardized mov, so Apple machines have no trouble with it. WMV files most often have mpeg4 inside, so if it can play most wmv, it can also play mp4. (It IS playing mpeg4, after extracting the mpeg4 from the wmv).

                  What wmv gives you is the ability to pack jpegs, links, or other elements in along with the video. Think of it like a zip file that contains a video and whatever other stuff you put in there. If you're not going to also add pictures and stuff, wmv is pointless.

                      Agree with re to wmv - however if you go through a few members areas, you'll find it in every single one

                      I'll try mp4 only and see what the feedback is once up and running.

                                  i offer mp4 and wmv. i'd love to drop wmv but i'm sure the dinosaurs would complain.
