What would be the good served by Google going down the shitter?

Not having to put up with only having one se on the net which provides most of the traffic would be a start.

Three Ses would provide more opportunity for stable se traffic - should one of them come up with some stupid filter or penalty, I would still be getting traffic whilst I worked round the problem.

Personally I prefer yahoo aswell - their serps seem to make more sense to me.

Stopping a monopolistic company from growing further. Ever tried buying adspace? Google has a virtual monopoly on the PPC market. There is a desperate need for more competition in this space.

Yup, and when they're a monopoly, they can set the prices to whatever they feel like and squeeze out every small player in the market.
