I disagree, Cashman didn't get total control until just this year, and if you look at the young players (pitchers especially) that he decided to keep rather than trade away in deadline deals....the yankees are looking good moving forward.

I think letting A-rod walk might be great for the team.

Granted, he's not as expensive for them because Texas is paying a big chunk of his salary....but they've got to stop overpaying for the Gary Sheffield's and Jason Giambi's of the league and be patient enough for the farm system to crank out more guys like Derek Jeter and Bernie Williams.
Those are the kind of guys they won with when they were winning it all.
