Do we need to employ a new sheriff?

Many years ago I was a member of APIC Worldwide, who tried to protect the copyright of content producers. Unfortunately the organisation fell and I don't want to go into the past here.

What APIC did was watch our backs. It was run be someone whose full time job was to search out pirates and stop them from stealing and profiting from our produce. Today we still have thieves and now more problems.

Pirates still exist and we now have Spyware to watch out for.

Is it time to get a new sheriff, who we pay by subscription, to professionally search for thieves and scammers and either pass the info back to members of the association or act on their behalf? He will only work for those in the association paying for him and we will be able to sport his logo.

I for one will join and if anyone is interested I will start them off by supplying hosting.

Seems to me the need is there, do we have the person to fill the position?

Falability be our common denominator, this thread just proved yours. Do it yourself, and continue being that pleasant inteligent man that has his own lawn mower to maintain his own wonderful backyard. The jones' will always be a synthetic that doesn't quite satisfy the quality of reality.

Doing it yourself is great, if you have the time, skills and don't mind other things suffering. Getting someone full time to do it for many has benefits, he will be looking for more than one producers content and can afford to do nothing else and arm himself with the tools needed.

I do not have the skills nor the time.

Of course it's tough for this industry to come together and I might be aiming high.

There is another excellent avenue of income. Suing the people uploading our content for free, this could even pay the bill.

In 1972, a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. They promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune.

If you have a problem, if no-one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire the A-Team.

Maybe you have a point, an "A-Team" of people searching out for pirates, scammers and thieves would be a lot better than just one person. Or people doing it themselves.

Yes getting people on the adult net to work together is like herding cats, getting many of them to pay for a service designed to benefit them will be like getting blood out of a stone.

But if I set my goals too high is that so bad?

I'm looking for answers and not just ranting.

funny thing is, back when APIC was running around shutting people down, a lot of webmasters bitched here on GFY about the guy...now with content theft being such a huge issue...LOL....I bet they wished he was still around for them.

Watermark your videos. use theft to your advantage. It then becomes free advertising.

well what kind of tools would the sheriff need at his disposal.

                            Brainstorm some stuff:

                            ICQ: 405 009 573
