I thought education was silly and pointless.

None of us were alive when the mathematicians of 2000 years ago began creating some of the basic principles used in mathematics and engineering. None of us were alive when Sir Isaac Newton "discovered" gravity either.

How do we know any of that happened? Do we need to discover those theories all over again? How can we create new theories if we are so busy learning basic theories since we were not around at the time of their creation to know if they were really created?

I see why its hard to search for. But if you search "4.3/5.0 GPA MIT" (or ways people might actually use it) you'll see it goes back many decades at least on peoples resumes.
