3 reasons.
1:  Yes, as a backup.
2:  Read/Write times.
3:  Less stuff to carry to location shoots as my MacBook has an internal SD slot which also takes us back to #2 since the SD is way faster than a USB CF reader.
It's happened to me 3 times.  Only takes once to justify it.  Plus, lets face it, I've killed a number of cameras over the years.  My last 5D repair cost me around $700 and I'm sure my Mark II is due for a new shutter box assembly.  It's just time to buy a new camera anyway.
