PPS affiliates: do you care what happens to your surfer when you've been paid?

For those who send to pay per signup programs, how much do you care what happens to your surfer once you've been paid?

Are cross sales, upsells, aftersales, etc. a big concern since you just got paid $25-40+ for the signup?

I know most won't state publicly, but I'd say a majority that send to PPS aren't as concerned as those sending to a revshare program.

Is it less about caring and more about just getting that money upfront when you send to a PPS program?

Id say if you use pps, you dont care after you got the sale. Revshare on the other hand, you'd want the program to treat the surfer as a king and have him stay forever!

We try to send to revshare as much as possible. When revshare isn't an option we'll send to pps and we definitely care about how they are treated. Every surfer that gets fucked over is one less signup in the future.

like Shap says, if a surfer gets fucked once he/she will probably never signup to a site again...so yeah I care. I push most revshare, more $$$ in the long run.

          Thanks for the feedback
that's what I'm trying to find out...
the "give a shit" factor amongst those sending to PPS vs revshare

my own traffic, I'm much more careful with my revshare traffic than PPS

but that doesn't necessarily mean they are getting fucked over on PPS...

          let me ask you this:
if you offer your members upsells to cam sites, email them after they cancel, etc. to maximize your revenues, do you consider it fucking them over? At what point, in your opinion, does it go from aggressive marketing to maximize profits to fucking them over?

I think it becomes a problem when the surfers don't know what they are getting. As an industry we have a very long history of promising surfers one thing and then billing them and screwing them over for something else. We sell porn. It's easy enough to make money that we don't have to use shady sneaky practices to make an extra buck.

I think we're both in agreement on that...though maybe our opinions of "shady" and "sneaky" may differ.....hell, I know some guys that think auto recur billing is scammy...others think any sort of upsell is a scam...

I agree. I'm just getting really frustrated with the tolerance of bs our industry has. The content thieves truly are the worst. As a company that spends well over a million a year in content it drives me nuts how easily people get away with stealing content. I know that's completely off topic but part of the frustration. When you combine the higher end of aggressive marketing tactics with the ease of stealing content you end up with a situation where surfers are increasingly being convinced by us (as an industry) to not join paysites.

Once the surfer signed up and I got my PPS commission, it's their surfer, not mine any more. They can up/cross-sale him anything they want.

In my case i do because the sites i promote are recurring and over the 7 plus years i have been promoting this one program its built up to a fare amount of $$$$ each month with very little effort on my part to keep things building.

The adult industry as always sort of been that way though (the bs), not just the net guys...

Think about the price of porn magazines versus something like Time...or those 3 mags for $20 that come in the heavy plastic bags, most of which aren't near as "wicked, evil and salacious' as they are marketed to be
go to a video store that rents adult titles as well as regular movies and you'll see the adult titles are always higher priced...retail prices are even higher for porn than non-porn (for the most part).

Video box covers used to often contain pictures of models that weren't in the video...or they sure didn't look like they did in the video ;-)

although, far scarier and scammier than anything we could ever get away with...have you ever tried to cancel an AOL membership? if we could toss out the hoops they get away with, PPS payouts would be $125-150 ;-)

I do..we're all in this together and one unhappy, qualified, and buying surfer is likely to result in one less customer in the pool, no matter who got the sale.

As Shap said we've had a history of the industry feeding on itself and if you look back at our history, you can identify some programs and individuals who have affected the many, and we're still paying for it.

A lot of my traffic are bookmarkers and repeat visitors, especially for my niche stuff... You can be sure I want him coming back and trusting the next link I post.

I go through the join process on any program I promote, and check out trial price, conversion price, xsells, if they're checked or not, and sometimes even the members area. I know most people aren't this thorough but I like to know what I'm selling.

For example I was about to start promoting one program until I found out the $1 trial recurred at $45. No thanks.

so, what do you think is a valid pricing point? At what point do you say "whoa, that's way too fucking high for my surfers"?

really, internet memberships are probably underpriced...think about what a single porn magazine costs at the news stand these days...think about what a 3-4 night rental for a porn movie is...have you seen the prices in hotel rooms for pay per view porn?

To be honest I think $39.95 is too high even for the value they are getting... but really, crossing that $40 barrier for the quality of content this program has in it's members area is a ripoff.

Times are changing and surfers really don't have to pay for porn if they don't want to, so I think being reasonable is the least we can do.

I charge between 25-30 on my paysite.

you got that right shap. you wouldnt believe if i told you how many so called legitimate sponsors are supporting these torrent and stolen content networks. this industry is going to split into those who will only do good business and those that will fuck their mom for 25 cents.

90% of my traffic is to revshare codes. I HAVE had a surfer recur over 30 times. WHen I can't convert a program or the program is trying to crosssell then without giving me credit, then i'll do PPS... because i'll lose em anyways - the program owner is too greedy - but the girls are hot.. so I might as well make something out of it.
