I'd say it was a 1/1000 chance. I was extremely lucky.
The thing with Forex is that you can actually make lots of money, but you have to set your goals low if you don't want to lose.
You can easily make 15%/week out of your investment without much risk to it. All it takes is to bet on compensating positions, and if the currency goes not in your favor, just wait and start collecting that daily bonus.
I'll soon be investing a large sum into forex and am aming at a stable 30%/mo without having to worry about anything.
My advice: get a demo-account and try it out for yourself.

thanks for your input dig0
do you have to spend much time researching the market in order to know what to buy? seems like it would consume too much of my time...
I promote a couple of Forex firms as a mainstream product. A lot of people are trading FX right now. I tried it my self, but unfortunately not much luck. I wasn't realy commited to it though. I didnt even do any homework before trading. (thats a bad idea). It was more like gambling to me because of that.
Best way to get your feet wet is to signup for some demo accounts on a couple of different platforms or find one that allows you to open a real trading account for a small amount of money. Another tip: Dont use any of those platforms with the download trading applications (like MetaTrader4 etc) those are too complicated for a new trader. You will just loose all your money faster. Best platforms to use for now are completely web based etc. Much easier than those other ones.
And one final thing: If you realy want to give it a shot, then read up before you trade. Read all the economic indicators coming up and know when to buy or sell. Most good firms have very good customer support that can tell you what to look for when the market is moving and give you free training. Also make sure you only open an account with a regulated company (NFA, FSA etc).
Not playing, but i was thinking of that.
To learn trading is so impossible as it seems at the beginning.
All the indicators become clear as long as you have little experience.

bump for any more info on this subj
You know, I read like 5 books on it. And in my whole life I've read only around 15 books...
Did it help? Not really. I never used any of the knowledge from my "homework". Just common sense. Watch the news and bet on compensating positions. And be REALLY patient, and NEVER panic. Have money stashed so that you wouldn't have to worry.
The only way to MAKE money with forex is as an affiliate selling their accounts/systems to other suckers, same like online gambling, it's a recurring income, notice the amount of related spam?
I made $392,745,937 with a $12 initial investment in 10 days, ask me how to sign up now!
The only guys making money in currency trading are math geniuses and traders from Goldman Sachs, they trade with math formulas and super computers, and even with all this equipment and all these brains, they sometimes lose billions, see Barings bankruptcy.
The average man doesn't stand a chance.
It's a highly leveraged industry, earnings are very high for small investors because you will lose 99.99% of the time
I will give u a tip though, you can earn a lot selling online trading accounts to millions of suckers on the internet, you can diversify your new suckers business by also offering online lottery tickets and no deposit online casino bonuses
