True, because if they knew what the term meant they'd be surprised. Redneck was a term used when coalminers worked in horrid conditions. The coalminers went on strike as the owners called in security companies to putdown the uprising. The striking coalminers wore red bandanas around there necks so they wouldn't shoot each other as the term "redneck" was coined.
