Facebook Commerce Has Been A Big Flop

Why is f-commerce a flop? Chris Dixon, CEO of Hunch, explains it pretty succinctly on Twitter: "Facebook is like Starbucks where everyone hangs out but no one ever buys anything.

some good comments following that story that echo my own thoughts - yes people are sheep, they follow fads and trends in the real word and on the web, Facebook and any other site like it won't remain the 'in' spot forever, the same way no bar/club in the real world remains on top for long. sheep they might be but people do get their backs up when they feel trapped by one giant company that wants to be everything to everybody - we still do like the little guy, we want to give somebody else a shot. When something becomes too big, you lose your claim to 'cool'. Google wants to be everything to everybody and fails - people want Google to be what they want Google to be, a search engine and things related to that core business. Both Facebook and Google would be better off sticking to their core businesses, a search engine and a social networking platform. If they want to make more money, buy up the next big thing and let that business stand on its own.

Coke and McDonalds have ownership in lots of other brands but the average person doesn't know it. RK and Bangbros - same owners, different brands.
I moved my sites to Vacares Hosting. I've saved money, my hair is thicker, lost some weight too! Thanks Sly!

That's the baddest ass money moving Starbucks that I've ever seen....

I guess people will just have to accept that fact that Facebook is just another Website!

Google's core business is selling adverts, not search, never was search. Look at the original documents for their funding.

Totally.... and fb still hasn't really done much to monetize, and yet they're still making billions.
