If we weren't allowing ourselves to be shaped, would they rip it up and start again. They have many tools, we have a relatively short lifespan, this makes it easier to clear away unwanted information/culture. If there's a way of taking away one generation of children, for some seemingly legit reason e.g. protection/food shortages, it would speed up the transition process.
