My mother lives in FL - no basement. Plus it's a retirement community and I'm not old enough ;)
I haven't lived at home since I was 19 and haven't had anyone else supporting me since I was 22. I had a roommate after my divorce when I was 22 for a year, but everything has been covered 100% by me (including supporting someone else) since then.
Dang, I WISH I could live for free in a basement!!!Comment

I know, I HAVE a basement ;) It's usually where I move my "office" to in the summer since the 3rd floor loft is basically an oven.
I was in a tornado in college and ever since then, I won't live in a house w/o a basement which has a completely "safe" room. My basement bathroom in completely underground with no windows. Even though a tornado in the mountains is pretty much unheard of
