this has nothing to do with freedom of speech. an Iranian citizen has no such rights in this country.

it would be nice for once if some of you tards would try to understand what freedom of speech is before commenting on it or trying to throw any and all speech or expression under one massive and non-existent umbrella

there are endless limits on what one can and can't say, where they can say it, how they can say it, whether or not they need a permit to do so etc. so yeah, its not unusual for a total whack job on the state depts list of state sponsors of terror who has made an endless number of highly offensive and insensitive remarks, one of which is denying the holocaust to give a speech at ground zero to the entire world for his own political gain and to pander to arab countries and his own fanatic base at home.

just like no one is going to get a permit to hold a rally at Martin Luther King Memorial Park in Seattle on the subject of why all hahahahahahas should be wiped off the face of the earth.

some would consider this to be common sense and a matter of not only a highly sensitive political issue but a simple matter of common decency and civility and respect... but i guess when you have no sense, it would be expected to pass over your heads.

maybe Bush should go to Auschwitz and talk about what caused Germans to exterminate Jews and how the numbers are inflated and how the holocaust might not have existed at all??? right? i mean thats the type of "freedom of speech" you guys are trying to defend.

FREEDOM OF SPEECH MEANS FREEDOM TO HEAR SOMEONE SPEAK.

The reason some people want to hear the speech is so they can compare what they hear from him to the angry rants by you and determine what the truth is themselves.

Refusing to back off of his stance on Israel, Ahmadinejad again questioned whether the Holocaust happened.

"If the Holocaust is a reality of our time, a history that occurred, why is there not sufficient research that can approach the topic from different perspectives?" he asked.

The Iranian leader has made statements in the past suggesting Israel be politically "wiped off the map," though he insists that can be accomplished without violence. See some of Ahmadinejad's controversial remarks »

While he would not respond with a "yes" or "no" when asked Monday if he sought the destruction of Israel, he said the status of Israel should be determined by a free election.

are you fucking retarded? freedom of speech means freedom to express ones views. ... namely in referrence to politics/government

you have the right to hear someone say all blacks need to be hung. you DON'T have the right to publically say it. get it? there is no such thing as "freedom to hear someone say something" as there is no restriction on hearing something.

jesus christ. we need to burn down our public schools and start over... or pass legislation requiring MTV and Xbox to include basic educational elements.

Last week this man gave a speech in which he said "Iran is a peaceful nation". In that same speech he said "We will not rest until the Jews no longer exist".

Hilter detailed his plan in a book, and then followed through on it. As he rose to power no one thought to stop him. (I'm currently reading "The rise and fall of the Third Reich" so this is fresh in my mind.) Instead everyone sat back and said "Nah, he won't do it". Today we call this "Appeasement".

Ahmadinejad has said more than once that Iran plans on wiping out the Jews. After he says this over and over again..... Get the point?

Let's see, a religous reference and the advocating of burnning books in the same post. Nothing alarmist or extremist here...

$500 Billion, 3700 dead and 30,000 disabled military people might make one wonder if it would have been a good idea to let Sadam have a few more public words before we went over there. I doubt he could have told any bigger lies than the ones we actually got to hear.

                          ITS POLITICAL

                          HIS VISIT IS POLITICAL

                          HIS REQUEST WAS PURELY POLITICAL

DENYING HIM TO GO TO GROUND ZERO TO LAY A WREATH IS POLITICAL

HE KNEW HE WOULD BE DENIED THAT BEFORE HE REQUESTED IT AND THAT WAS A POLITICAL TACTIC

JUST LIKE IRAN DENYING US AID OFFERS AFTER A MASSIVE EARTHQUAKE A YEARS AGO WAS POLITICAL (who cares if a few citizens die... right? politics has nothing to do with it!)

                          etc etc etc etc etc.

no... please go back to your Halo 3 demo or watching crappy reality TV shows so adults can talk.

its 100% irrelevant to your assertion that you have some sort of inalienable right to be "heard". you are making a weak leap in logic to support an argument that is totally backwards.

as for your other ignorant remarks... hate speech is illegal everywhere... but being the dipshit that you are, incapable of making any sort of defensible argument, i wouldn't have expected you to acknowledge that simple fact.

the rest of course was pure sarcasm making fun of you, but since you have nothing of substance to say, you chose to attack it as if it was some sort of heart felt belief and went further to babble about the war as if thats what the discussion is about.

                              blah blah blah.

Have any of you saying it is disrespectful to the families of 9/11 actually talked to most of the families. You would not be saying that if you did. There are a lot of them involved in the 9/11 truth movement.

here is the issue, i think i figured it out. it would be practical to hear both sides for yourself.

however, iran is a tense subject and tensions are high about it, and sometimes that overrides logic and pragmatism

i love this administration, "you cant come to my party"

The Iranian leader also would not be attending the president's reception for fellow world leaders at his hotel in the evening.

Here's a good quote from the President of Columbia University yesterday that goes to the heart of why he shouldn't be allowed at ground zero; the bold text being exactly why he wished to go there.

?You are either brazenly provocative or astonishingly uneducated.?
He fits the first description and this thread is full of the latter!

Thats not quite true. He has stated that he wants to wipe Israel off the map, not exterminate the Jews.

It depends on how you want to read/listen to his statement.
