I'm really excited to see this fight. I have always had a soft spot for Judo, as it was the first martial art I ever trained in as a kid...

i like nakamura man, this dude is tough. his only losses are to the very best in pride. should be a test to see if machida is real or just more ufc hype.

I also have a soft spot for his teacher, Yoshida. I know a lot of people don't dig Yoshida, but I'd also like to see him in the UFC...

Maruicio Rua vs. Forrest Griffin - Light Heavyweight Bout (205 lbs)

Round 1: Rua tries to take Griffin down, but Griffin sprawls and gets top position. Rua looked very good on his back and Griffin let him back up. The pair trade leg kicks and Rua is throwing big right hands. Rua takes Griffin to the ground and lands some elbows. Griffin does his best to control the wrists of Rua, who can't pass Griffin's guard. Griffin works back to his feet, but is met with some solid strikes by Rua. Griffin takes Rua back to the mat and works some ground and pound. Rua is very active on his back and Griffin lets him stand up again. Griffin lands a big right on Rua, but takes a couple shots himself. Rua takes Griffin down and gets him against the fence. Griffin scrambles and finishes the round throwing punches on top of Rua.

Round 2: Rua lands a good leg kick, but Griffin responds with some good jabs. Rua secures a single-leg takedown and works his ground and pound again. Rua splits Griffin open, but Griffin manages to scramble to his feet. Griffin takes Rua down and starts throwing punches and elbows. Griffin is leaking blood all over the place. Rua stands up and Griffin stuffs a single-leg takedown. Rua is starting to look tired and Griffin stuffs another takedown. The pair start trading on their feet and Rua looks to be getting the better of it. Rua attempts a takedown, but Forrest sprawls and gets top position. Forrest starts raining down punches and elbows from half guard and Rua looks to be in trouble. Griffin is teeing off in the final seconds until the horn sounds.

Round 3: Griffin misses on a high leg kick to start the round. Rua shoots again and manages to take Griffin down. Griffin attempts a triangle and an arm bar, but Rua escapes both. Griffin has some good defence on his back and is asking the ref to stand them up. Griffin escapes from his back with an attempted omoplata. Griffin gets side control and rains down elbows and punches. Rua looks absolutely gassed as Griffin continues his ground and pound assault. Rua turtles and Griffin throws some heavy knees to Rua's body. Rua goes back to his back and Griffin tries to mount. Rua gives up his back and Griffin locks in a rear naked choke, forcing Rua to tap out. An absolutely shocking upset victory for Forrest Griffin.

It's beginning to look like UFC fighters were superior to Pride fighters all along. This is the beauty of combining the two into one. No excuses, no doubts, no bs.

I don't know about you guys but I want Fedor in the UFC. We might see an upset many would have never dreamed possible.

I was shocked at first, but the more I think about it I realize it is not so much an indictment on Shogun as it is a credit to Forrest. He is just in a phenomenal camp, is busting his ass, and is improving in leaps and bounds...

ehhh im really not cause you notice he didn't tap him till last round... all other attempts failed miserably... your in that weight range you know the fatgue they were both feeling....

Wanderlei looked pissed that Chuck lost. Wonder who they'll have him fight now?

The Chuck fight really surprised me. Jardine hung his head out there the entire fight and Chuck never went after it. I didn't think he'd be that tentative. It's hard to say if it's from his previous knockout or his lifestyle as someone else pointed out. Either way he looked done.

Unbelievable, I wish I had known this earlier I would've gone to Vegas!
I think some of the top guys are starting to believe their own hype and becoming victims of it. Fuck I love this sport! All good fights and not one was a filler IMO.
