    Myspace Promotes "Fling" (Pic)

I think this is kind of retarded considering that myspace.com is mainly made up of kids under the age of 18. Here is a screen shot...

Its called marketing. Same thing True.com does, Mate1, SinglesNet, they're just another dating site buying ads.

Since when are they all under 18? Everyone I know on MySpace is over 18.

Ads are based on the age you put on your account
if you are under 18 you wont get those ads
but if you put your age over 18 you will get more adult-ish ad's

although myspace does have kids under 18. The vast majority of members are over 18 and myspace prolly doesnt have those ads showup if your under 18.

                      You're logged in, and you're over 18.

Try logging in on a 13yo's account.

when you buy advertising on myspace, you define your target audience appropriately.

I have a very close friend that works in MySpace advertising. I was asking this very question, and she said the advertisers give them extremely specific markets to target, and they have the tools to do so.

If you go to one of the Mate1 ads, then click through, it takes you to a page that grays out in a few seconds, with a DHTML pop layer page, which requires a CC to continue.

There are a lot of ways to ensure you get the right target audience, but obviously there will be a number of unwanted clicks regardless.

Yeah you can choose demographics. So its most likely this won't be showing to anyone under the age of 18. Unless they lied on their page

Well, it shouldn't really matter because once you get out of high school, it's time to get rid of myspace. Anyone over 18 and still on myspace is fucking lame and should get a life.

You can easily setup a filter to target by gender or age group. And a majority of myspace users are over the age of 18.

Exactly. True and Singlesnet have much racier Myspace ads.

my step sister has her myspace age set to 99
and her REAL age is 16
                                                          Who gives a fuck?

If your step sister is too dumb to be able to handle adult advertisement, then she has bigger problems in life then seeing some nudity..

popups and sex ads are a reality of the net.... if they are so dumb that it is going to cause them some sort of danger by seeing some sexy pictures, then the parents have already failed.
