DWB, check out this rare cover gem of "Little Wing" by Derek and the Dominoes (Eric Clapton) recorded live just a month after Hendrix died (Hendrix and Clapton were good friends)...
One of the first songs that I dedicated to my wife...
Quote:
Little Wing lyrics:
Well she's walking through the clouds
With a circus mind that's running round
Butterflies and zebras
And moonbeams and fairy tales
That's all she ever thinks about
Riding with the wind.
When I'm sad, she comes to me
With a thousand smiles, she gives to me free
It's alright she says it's alright
Take anything you want from me,
Anything.
Fly on little wing,
Yeah yeah, yeah, little wing

Here's what Hendrix had to say about "Little Wing"...
Quote:
? ?Little Wing? is like one of these beautiful girls that come around sometimes,? explained Jimi. ?You ride into town for the drinks and parties and so forth. You play your gig; it?s the same thing as the olden days. And these beautiful girls come around and really entertain you. You do actually fall in love with them because that?s the only love you can have. It?s not always the physical thing of ?Oh, there?s one over there?? It?s not one of those scenes. They actually tell you something. They release different things inside themselves."
? ?Little Wing? was a very sweet girl that came around that gave me her whole life and more if I wanted it. And me with my crazy ass couldn?t get it together, so I?m off here and there and off over there.?

Reminds me in some ways about how I fall a little in love with many models that I shoot...although I've been in this biz long enough that it is more sublime and melancholy now as I get older (and of course, usually one-sided, since I rarely communicate such feelings so as to not screw up our model-photographer business relationship).
No better way to start a Friday, then with a little Hendrix, Little Wing...hope you sort out your GF issues, and thanks for sharing the tune.
