I do not apologize to you or anyone else for this. I live off of approximately half of my monthly income from these two sources and put the other half into my investments. US Armed Forces are filled with normal 18-22 year olds. They aren't white trash, they aren't scumbags, and they aren't some stereotype you are basing them off of from some movie you saw in your basement. They are kids out of high school, many from poorer areas. Many who just need some money for college. Most had no intentions of fighting in a war, and have no desire to do so. Many are reservists, who signed up for their weekend a month and money to pay for their college degree.
Some of the most brilliant minds, entertainers, and politicians have served in the military. Jimmy Hendrix, Ted Williams, Clint Eastwood, Ernest Hemingway, Johnny Cash, Oliver Stone, Elvis Presley, Kurt Vonnegut, Johnny Carson, and Hugh Hefner all served in the US military. All of these people have accomplished more in a day than you will in your life. I can name hundreds more, you'd be surprised just who has served in their lifetime.

Truth is, many of the greatest men and women who shaped the world have served in the military at one time or another for their country. Some never fought in a single war, while others were in battle. A large percent of the people in this world that matter have served in their country's military.

You did miss the entire point of my earlier post. Our military is not filled with gung-ho mercenaries who want to blow off the heads of people. They are filled with everyday, normal 18-22 year olds. Kids who couldn't afford college or needed to help support a family. If you went to college, you probably were friends with people in the National Guard who needed the money to pay their tuition bills. They are not "killing machines" and they would rather be home with their friends and family than fighting in a war. They don't decide what wars we fight, or what causes they fight for. They were too young to learn that our governments don't always tell us the truth. Blame the government for sending them off to war for reasons you dont' agree with. The measure to give troops as much rest time at home as they spend deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan needed 60 votes to pass in the Democratic-controlled Senate; it received just 56 votes, with 44 against.
It had been offered by Sen. Jim Webb, a decorated Vietnam veteran and former Navy secretary who said U.S. troops are being "burned out" by repeated redeployments to Iraq.
The plan was strongly opposed by the Bush administration. Pentagon Secretary Robert Gates called it a backdoor attempt to pull troops off the battlefield in the increasingly unpopular Iraq war.

I think you have it ass backward. The majority of enlisted personnel are there because of circumstances (no job alternatives, facing jail time or else, a misguided sense of patriotism, etc).
These are the people making up the bulk of U.S. deaths and casualties every day in the Middle East and around the world.
The people that should be held culpable are the chicken hawks in Washington, such as Bush, Cheney, et al, that avoided military service, yet propel our troops into harms way.
Even more insidious are U.S. military contractors/mercenaries such as Blackwater, which are only an order away from trying to overthrow our own government.
I served six years in the military - please don't paint every member of the armed forces as you have, because many would turn around their guns if they felt that the government had gotten out of control more than it has.
