You are obviously not a fan and probably feigning ignorance since Howard had so much media attention the last few years due to the attention he brought to the satellite radio industry. He is doing quite well on Sirius satellite radio, and the Howard TV pay channel that is available on VOD on many cable systems is great too.Comment

Jim, quite the contrary... I use to listen to stern as far back as 87 or so when I worked in Jersey. I was a fan, a long time ago. Then I sort of lost him for a while, then he came back on the air in Canada for a while (and got blown out pretty quick). His shows on E! and so on... but for everything he has done for satelite radio, it is sort of like high end NFL players going to play in the XFL.
What did his audience shrink too? From 10s of millions to maybe a million max?Comment

I am a long time fan so I care more about my enjoyment of the show than the stats of how many people are listening. I think that the show is better than ever since now they can talk freely and have a better show without heavy censorship like they had on terrestrial radio.
Meanwhile, terrestrial radio is dying and that industry while still huge, is in free-fall. Sirius Satellite radio last reported over six million subsrcibers total, which is nothing to sneeze at. They aren't all listening to Howard every day but probably a good fraction are. The Howard TV On Demand pay service is quite entertaining as well.
Howard is still so influential even in the new venue. There has to be a half dozen tv shows based directly off his material on right now since almost every writer and creative type in Hollywood is a long time fan.Last edited by Jim_Gunn; 09-18-2007, 01:54 PM.Comment

By the way, Howard got "blown out" of terrestrial radio a few years ago in Canada by protest groupsand the government of Canada and which has heavy control and interference in the media, not because he wasn't highly rated!
I remember when he was broadcasting into Montreal for the first time on a local affiliate radio station and he talked about how much he hated the French. Some people didn't quite get the humor of his press conferences when he enters new markets.Comment
