    Don't forget to do backups. My machine just took a dirt nap.

    I foolishly had not backed up in a few months but was lucky enough to be able to start in safe mode a few times to run MozBackup (copied all my Thunderbird mails) and copy a few files. And Firefox sync for the win!

    If anyone has sent me mails in the past few days, I'll get to you. I'm just now got my mail client running again and am catching up.

      Make your backups automatic. I use SuperDuper on the mac, at 3am it incrementally backs up my files to an external drive and then mirrors that ext drive to a second redundant drive. I imagine there is a PC equivalent.

      If you have to remember to do a back up, you're not really backed up.

          That is what I need to do. Usually did it on the first of every month manually but starting slipping a few months ago.

                          I do as much work as possible in the cloud so I am pretty much constantly backed up. Of course, if my google account got messed up I would be fucked hardcore.

                                      This is one instance where I'm happy to be on a Mac that does a Time Machine backup every hour.

                                      If all fails, you're only out stuff from the last hour things were working.
