A good day to reflect that Bush has killed more Americans in a war.......

Has any president or primeminister ever really given the voters a choice of what the people really want, It seems they only listen to people when there is mass discontent or mass riots, Do we all really live in a democracy governed by people who just do what they want and dont care what the voters think once they are in power.

I'm not talking about giving the voters a choice... people often forget that the U.S. is a republic, not a democracy.

I'm talking about accountability. Answering for actions, and giving reasonable explanations.

President Truman had a placard on his desk that said "The Buck Stops Here."

That's what I'm talking about... and many Presidents in our history and Prime Ministers of other countries have had the character that comes along with it.

I'm of the opinion that our current executive lacks that character.

I realize that Bush had other intentions besides what was best for the country, but I honestly believe that the choices he has made were for the benefit of the country and the world. Agreed, most of those decisions ended up making us look like assholes and damaging a lot of relationships we had with other countries, but I seriously doubt that was his intent.

All this shit about oil, WMD's and terrorists is getting to the point were it seems like everyone is making Bush out to be this evil dictator, but it's obvious he isn't, he just makes bad decisions. I also agree that this is not the trait that should be running this country or any for that matter, but it's not malicious.

And just to address all the bullshit about the underlying issue of the us doing this just to keep our hands in the oil, that's not the reason why we went to Iraq. It's one of the reasons though, hell ya. What kind of leader wouldn't attempt to secure his nations future. But to say that's the only reason we are over there is completely crazy. There has never been a war that was fought for one specific reason, it's always a combination of multiple reasons combined that would cause a leader to enter a war.

I posted the above prior to the invasion of Iraq in response to someone that stated there is no reason at all to invade Iraq. Pay close attention to #6...you lying piece of shit.

In addition contrary to what you say...I have always stated that the least of the reasons for the invasion was WMD's...that WMD was the drumbeat to war that the Administration chose to use.

Further more contrary to what you say...I have stated multiple times since the insurgency began...that I doubted we would succeed in Iraq because the politicians would micro manage the conflict just as they did in Vietnam to the detriment of success and the American people would lose their patience and would demand we withdraw just as they did during the Vietnam era.

In addition when it became apparent to me that the Administration was not going to allow the military to conduct operations in the manner they should be (instead of pussyfooting around)...I have been an advocate of total withdrawal.
