Typical Stater Brothers Markets loss prevention day:

7:00 AM arrive at store as it is opening for business.
7:15 AM go up into loft to watch customers.
7:20 AM find first customer stealing.
7:30 AM apprehend customer as she leaves the store with unpaid items.

(Customer is an elderly lady on fixed income. She stole 2 hams, rolls, toothpaste, various items total of $86. Paid for $12 worth of stuff. She has $100 bill on her and we use that to pay for her "forgotten" stuff)

7:50 AM back into the loft
7:55 Follow another customer
8:05 AM catch 3 teenage girls leaving store with items.

(Three girls ranging in age from 13 to 14. Stole mainly makeup and candy. Total cost $42.85. Call parents.)

8:30 AM back into the loft
8:45 AM follow another customer
8:55 AM catch him leaving the store with unpaid merchandise.

(customer is middle aged man. Shops there every day. Stole $62 in items ranging from food to toiletries. Call the cops.)

9:35 AM back into the loft
9:38 AM follow another customer
9:45 AM stop customer leaving the store.

(customers are a couple in their low twenties. not local. stole $132 in various items and paid for $10. Don't have cash for other items. Cop is still there from last call. Works on these two.)

And so it goes until 5pm...

For every 5 customers that are legit there is 1 that is stealing $50 average.
