extracted 12,388 files to a directory and now it won't display

    extracted 12,388 files to a directory and now it won't display

    now when I try to get a directory listing it just shows as empty... any idea how to fix this?

    Yes...shut down all other programs that you have running then open the directory. If this does not work reboot and then open the directory. BTW how much on board RAM do you have?

      Thanks for the reply. the problem is via ssh/ftp. 4gb ram. it's an archive of thumbnail images. still can't display the directory.

      I guess I need to split the files up. >.<

        try using the 'find' command

        find . | head

          Give us a snippet of what the file names look like and perhaps somebody can write you a script to divide it up.
