    When are the 'Next Gen' Consoles due out? (Seriously?)

    I mean you got the XBox 360 with 'Kinect' and PS3 with 'Move' etc... But there is no denying, that the insides MUST be ageing by now?

    When do you think we are due for the NEXT xbox, or the PS4 so to speak?

    I may actually buy one at that point, but cant feel right in purchasing now, cause I'm buying OLD tech????

    Any Ideas?

      Probably a long ways off. Nothing has even been hinted of even being in development.
      There's a new Wii coming out but that will just be similar in power to a PS3/360.

          There's probably another couple of years or so left in the current consoles. As good as they are, i think the graphics etc have been the same now for the past 2 or 3 years. So naturally, people will be looking for bigger and better again.

          I'm sure i read a while back Sony said they already knew what they were going with with the PS4, but holding back on it because the PS3 was still selling by the shitload...

              Graphics are getting close to the point of being as good as they are going to get. The next generation will probably focus more on improvements in AI and physics in games.

                      The Xbox is selling good, but there are a bunch of rumors that they are working on the next model right now with a public debut at one of the trade shows this coming year.

                      Supposedly, the new models will be smaller, more powerful, and actually cheaper than the current model. Several game developers are said to be working on launch titles.

                      The thinking is that the gaming market has changed and that a company waiting until its console has totally run out of momentum is actually giving the competition a chance to jump in and steal marketshare. That's what happened to Sony.

                          I heard this gen has a 7 year life cycle.

                          They could make better console now, but enjoyable gaming can be made for a few more years with what they have now-- so they'll milk the systems in place.

                                                      I read that the current generations xbox and PS have already come out.

                                                      1 was called kinect and the other was called move.

                                                      I also remember reading that the new addons have extended the generations age by upto 5 years.

                                                      Perhaps it will be less but they're not going to go with a new generation now because the kinect and move are just getting started.

                                                          Sony has said 10 for the PS3. Hell, they are STILL making and selling PS2 games and consoles...so I definitely see this being the case.

                                                              Seriously? Graphics are not even CLOSE to as good as they can get. But I would take a great game over great graphics any day.
