This event likely wasn't a charity, it was probably a fundraiser. Those are two different things. Every day all across this country people carry out fundraisers. That doesn't mean that they are registered as a non-profit charity.

are you seriously trying to defend the abuse of that loop hole by claiming that tons of people do it.
It ok to abuse that loophole to fuck the world up because lots of people are doing it.

If they spent a million dollars to raise $2,000 for her that is still money that they raised for her

using your example, a company would write off a million dollars in expense and pay 500,000 less tax to the government
500,000 dollar that would go to homeless shelters, food banks, free clinics (the first things to get cut when the government doesn't have enough money) was lost so that some worthy charity got 2k.
people who would have been ok if corporation had paid it fair share of taxes need to sleep in the street, starve to death, die of aids so that some worthy charity get a measly 2k.
And that corporation gets a party thrown for his /her friends on the government dime.

Look, it is really simple. You can choose to show proof that you have given as much as you claim to charity and make yourself look a little less like an asshole than you already do or can you continue to deflect and change topics and show your true colors. I don't really care which you do, it is up to you. As I said before, your words in this thread speak volumes on their own.

I stand behind my words 100% (not your bullshit misrepresentation of my words)
I 100% believe that if your going to take 50k out of the tax coffers to throw a fund raiser you should give the charity at least 400k. That 20% is more than enough to cover administration/fundraising costs (if charities can cover all fundraising AND administration then corporations can certainly do that too)
I 100% believe if you can't do that then the cost of the "fundraiser" should NOT be tax deductible.
I 100% believe that any company (porn or mainstream) that takes advantage of that loophole to throw TAX DEDUCTIBLE parties for his/her friends are scum bags.
