I am not going defend the episode because it doesn't need me to. If they spent a million dollars to raise $2,000 for her that is still money that they raised for her. Big charities spend a lot of money every year doing all kinds of publicity and paying people big salaries. The United Way could give out ten times what it does if they didn't spend so much on CEO pay, bonuses and other things, but that doesn't change the fact that they still do it and anything they give is more than that person had before.

For that event to legally qualify to be a charity, the entire cost of that event had to be less then $400 based on how much raise for the charity.
It legally can not be called a charity and you say I am a scum bag for point it out.
Faking a charity fundraising to pay to for a party with your friends and get content at below normal cost is a scum bag move.
