Newt has way too many skeletons, I really doubt he will be the GOP's final pick. Romney is being quiet, biding his time, watching everyone else trip and fall.
As far as integrity, Newt lead the rabble to impeach Clinton for getting a BJ all the while keeping a mistress of his own, he accused Clinton of "wagging the dog" and dismissed Osama Bin Laden as being a true national threat, during his tenure as Speaker of the House members of his own party tried to have him removed, he pled guilty to ethics violations and he was pressured into resigning his position.
Every politician is a hypocrite, but not all are as blatant as Newt. Just take Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Publicly he blamed them for the burst of the real estate bubble, even said other politicians should be investigated for their involvement with the 2 firms and even went as far as to say some democrats should give money they received from them back (including Obama)... that is until it was uncovered that the companies had paid Newt nearly 2 million dollars over the last decade.. he was on their payroll from 1999 all the way up until they were taken over by the government in 2008. Newt still is sticking to claims the money was paid to him not for lobbying but for merely acting as a "historian".
He's made too many mistakes, he's just not presidential.
