That doesn't seem to be the case. Local media here has reported that so far, only one football player who had previously committed to PSU has backed out. All others are still on board. Additionally, they say PSU admissions and donations are up.

In a statement on Penn State's website, President Rodney Erickson touted the university's plan to donate $1.5 million in bowl money to organizations that deal with sexual assault and the town hall meetings held to discuss the sex abuse scandal that has encompassed the school.

Former assistant Nittany Lions football coach Jerry Sandusky has been charged with sexually abusing eight boys over 15 years, some of them on campus.

In his statement on Penn State Live today, Erickson said:

"To date, applications for admission to Penn State are up more than 3.4 percent over last year. ...

"The base of philanthropic support remains strong. Since July 1 and for the month of November, our annual giving program totals via the Lion Line, direct mail and online contributions show increases over last year in three important categories -- the amount of dollars and the number of donors and gifts. ...

"Penn State Career Services reports that interest by corporate recruiters has not wavered; in fact, recruiters and corporations are registering for the Spring Career Fair at a higher rate than they did last spring. ...

"I urge you to take a moment to reflect on the important work that happens every day at Penn State. I believe wholeheartedly in the value of this undertaking, and I hope you'll share my confidence in our future."
