No all I am saying is that I doubt these people will know how to convert the traffic or have the storage space to do it.
They are getting the script without planning the business model or the infrastructure to make it work.
I also know alot about bars as I used to be a part owner in two nightclubs.Comment

i have a silly question
so its possible to grab movie galls from sponsor fhgs and tubecgi will strip the videos from the fhgs and make it flv? does it have a feature to mass generate movies to flv or something like that? i would want of course to add new sponsors in my video.. much better if i have this for targetted niche also.. doing this would be possible and easy to work with? You can then use tubecgi to "strip" video from hosted galleries to get more videos.

Seriously I will probably have to buy a copy from you in a few months time as I am not ready for it at the moment, I think it is a great script.Comment

The information on the site should be read because there are things about the operation of the script that's not clear just by installing it.
Ignore the post about the htaccess file. That htacess file allows you to build multiple domains on the same server and use different size thumbs for each domain while making all thumbs appear to be on each domain when infact you only loaded them once into the main script.
This saves a ton of space if you build 5 domains and pack them with 20,000 vids.
I also have other options that I'm going to add that uses that htaccess file so stay tuned for some nice things to come.
Believe me, I've thought this thing out for a while and every file has a use and a proper place in the system. Changing things just makes me spend more time trying to figure out a problem instead of coding some cool stuff...like some awesome stats!
This script is just a baby, I have plans to add so much stuff.

Yep! Except it doesn't convert them to flash. I decided against that and you will easily see why when you start using the script.
Besides, converting to flash meant that everyone would have to install ffmpeg on the server and that was just another install headache for something that just isn't needed for this scenario.

Please don't post stuff here implying that people should remove something without asking me first. If someone listen to you about the htaccess file then there system would be wrecked and noone would know why.
Further, why are you renaming and or moving stuff to begin with?
I already thought out how this is going to work and it's like you trying to make it not work by changing it.
Dude - I am posting my observations as I try to build my site with your script, in order to help others. As it stands, your documentation is almost zero and you make a lot of assumptions on how a site will use this (like using .shtml files) that all of us trying the script don't know about. And as this script is in beta, I am expecting there to be small issues that have to be corrected as people discover them (don't forget, this is how you found out all your issues with your first release in your other thread)
I think you would be smart to open up your own forum for script owners so we can discuss setup issues over there. I also think it would be extremely helpful if you wrote a proper manual or user guide to getting your domain setup once the script is installed - its really not clear and we do need guidance.
Overall, I think the script has huge potential and can be fantastic, but I think we have to work together to help each other out.
cheers,
LukeComment

the script allows for hotlinking the videos from the original sponsor FHGs, bandwidth will be minimal if setup right.I now reckon that every single person who is getting it free will have it uninstalled 30 seconds after their next bandwidth bill comes through.
I think installing software like this takes serious planning and a nice cash fund to get it profitable.
Most people are installing it because it is free.
Still a good program though.Comment

What was the result you got?
The category must exist. If the category is not listed in the script then it's not suppose to work.

Correction:
Don't send me anything. You have a grand total of 3 post and your email is not working and I sent the license 3 times already to 2 different addresses.
Sorry, but I need to reduce my headaches at this point.
I can't help you anymore.

I have setup two categories (twinks and ebony) and I have imported all the galleries at the domain already. It works when visiting /channel.shtml/twinks and /channel.shtml/ebony, but not when using the ?action=page&cat=home&start=0&rows=5 variables
by the way, the site is progressing along, I should have something worth posting by this evening.Comment

Yes it is shtml: http://tubecocks.com/index.shtml
the code looks like this:
...but you notice that its displaying the same thumbs for the twinks and ebony categoriesCode:<font face="Trebuchet MS" size="2">TWINKS</font> <!--#include virtual="/cgi-bin/vlist.cgi?action=page&cat=twinks&start=0&rows=1"--> <a href=/channel.shtml/twinks><font face="Trebuchet MS" size="2">Click here for more twinks</font></a> <br> <font face="Trebuchet MS" size="2">EBONY</font> <!--#include virtual="/cgi-bin/vlist.cgi?action=page&cat=ebony&start=0&rows=1"--> <a href=/channel.shtml/ebony><font face="Trebuchet MS" size="2">Click here for more ebony</font></a> <br><br> <font face="Trebuchet MS" size="2">more</font> <!--#include virtual="/cgi-bin/vlist.cgi?action=page&cat=home&start=10&rows=1"-->

Ok, download the zip file again and upload tube/install/ascii/vlist.cgi
to cgi-bin/tube/install/ascii/vlist.cgi
Then go to "domains" and click install
Always upload the upgrade to the install/ascii folder and not anywhere else.
Try that.
It's kinda weird how changing a C++ program to perl works better if "ALL" the lines written in C++ are acutally changed. I mean, who woud have thought of that?

I haven't actually tried that, but that shouldn't be a problem.
I mean, as long as the sub domain is an actual directory in your account.
But each subdomain is a different domain when it comes to a license!!!!
Of course www.domain.com and domain.com is one domain.

You need to install the upgrades!!!
A lot of stuff has changed. Remeber this is a conversion for C++ to PERL
done in like 10 days so there were things that were overlooked.
Download the zip from the main site then upload the install folder only.
Then run install.cgi, then go to "domains" and click install.
If you have a problem then I can do it for you, just let me know.
BTW: put an index page up on your domain and have you server admin turn "auto indexes off".

To upgrade:
Download again, then upload the tube/install directory.
Then run install.cgi.

After trying 5 different hosts, I found the best.
Since 1997 I've had 2 hours of downtime.
Fast support, great techs, no hype, no gimmicks.

Do you still have copies avail? I installed it when you posted about it the other day and there were problems. It looked like you still were having issues so I deleted the install
let me know if there still avail I have a great domain to test it out on!Comment

Fucking SWEET!!
You make my script look good bro!
I can bang out some code but I don't have the design eye that you have.
I know every bit of HTML etc... but that's not all that's involved in design.
Making some templates is a good idea. I was going to do that myself but go for it and sell them. I think your templates would be better than mine by a long shot.
Hmmmmmmm? I'm getting some ideas. I want to think about something for a bit then I will probably get back to you on that thought.
Thanks a lot. I may be thinking the same thing you are
I'd love to chat about some ideas if you were interested.
I do have a question too. I was poking around the templates trying to figure out how to add code for a trade script. Most work where you can add a string to the front of the thumb url to skim traffic to a trade.. ie..
/ept/out.php?pct=60&url=(link to the video page)
would send 60% of the hits to the actual video and 40% to a trade.
Is there anyway to add that in any of the templates?

Also, any ideas on how to do a random video? I can just put up a page with 4 vids instead of a full site but that won't be truly random.
AND.. trade script has been added so anyone who gets their site setup can add it.. Just scroll down to the toplist to add your site

I intentionally did not add that because pepople would end up deleting the whole site by mistake. And of course, it would be MY fault.
When I figure a safe way to do that I will add it.
They way to contol this is don't use "mass import" at the domain level.
Instead use "select vids" and you can enter a new category at that time or even later.
I need a manual for this stuff but....time...time...

Random vids: I will add that option as soon as I get a chance and let you know. Also, any ideas on how to do a random video? I can just put up a page with 4 vids instead of a full site but that won't be truly random.

BTW: if trading traffic off thumbs then put the trade url in the templates,
My personal opinion: "FUCK THAT". That kind of traffic is sucking more than ever and it sucked from day one to begin with.
Hard link trade or top list trade with other sites running this script is a good idea! Creates way better traffic for everyone.
