It does, but the file size for an average movie is well over 2gigs, in .m4v format. And the result I got was a pixelated image throughout.

So I'm wondering if I need to force it to have an mp4 extension, and any other compression tips someone might have.

I choose "MP4 file" format and if you look closely there is a checkbox for "Large file size" in the Handbrake output settings that you must be sure to UNCHECK or else you will end up with the massive file size that takes forever to convert. Not sure why they set that as the default as it makes conversions take twice as long.

Also I noticed if I set it to convert a movie right after restarting my computer then Handbrake converts alot faster.

Thanks, I'm going to try this before I do anything else. Basically I just would like to rip some of my own DVDs so that I can watch them on my iPad or iPhone while travelling etc.
