                        on a more positive note, it would be cool if someone put together a 'designers of gfy' site or something, where anyone could post a site or multiple sites, banners, whatever that they've done or are working on that people can peruse anytime at their leisure. something uncommercialized without pricetags affixed to it or anything where everyone could see the work of people who they dont know or designs they'd normally never see and contact the people privately if they're interestred in their work. i would dig this.

                            In Lens' defense, not that he needs any, he was not aware of the previous set of rules, nor was he a judge in the last round. He also posted this:
                            New rules:
                            1. No stolen content.
                            2. Ability to convert.
                            No other rules apply.

                            I seem to remember this very distinctly. He also stated right up front that one of his designers would be entering. Not a single one of you argued with any of that. Until now. So there was a small piece of Flash in the tour, big fucking deal. When you saw "No other rules apply", perhaps if you had a question about them entering one of their designers in it you should have asked it. Perhaps if you had a question about if it would have Flash in it you should have asked. Would you have even noticed that Flash had he come in last place? And if you had noticed it, would you be bitching about it like you are now? Chances are pretty low. Why isn't anyone bitching about that guys email address on his tour? Why isn't anyone bitching about Hypo entering TWO tours? Why isn't anyone bitching about alias cheating the first time around and then being given a second chance anyway? What if one of those guys had won? Would you be bitching about that stuff then? Do you only pick apart the winner?

                            It's not a perfect world guys. But just because it's not perfect doesn't automatically mean that it's entirely fucked either.

                            If you guys wanna waive this one too and do it again, let's go..... I'm more than happy to accomodate your wishes.

                                I notice one of the sites (from Turbo) that was originally voted on was ALL FLASH, but it wasn't disqualified. Why not? Also, the Webyoung site broke the old rules and it wasn't disqualified either? Why not?

                                I was trying to clean up a mess, it's not fair to bitch about no rules until after the whole thing is over, you should have said something them.

                                But, there are no winners now. Everyone can submit a new site, no rules. Forget that the gfydesigncontest site even exists, because none of that apples.

                                We'll pick three judges to narrow down the entries, and then we'll have 10 judges pick the finals, just like before.

                                                                                                                I find it amazing how the winning site "L" received two no-scores and two 1-scores while 6 judges gave it 6's.

                                                                                                                It is the worst, painfullest and bussiest site to look at with no design skills what-so-ever.

                                                                                                                Looking at the score sheet it is obvious that the judges don't have a common set of rules to judge by, which would be normal for any competition held.

                                                                                                                I'd say: Try Again!

                                                                                                                    When lens sent me the list I wasnt sure which one to put first. All the designs looked nice, smooth, most loaded fast and all had good color choices. So playing buy the rules of what do I think would convert best is what I went by. I didnt notice flash or peoples names. I didnt care who created it or at that I didnt know who created it.

                                                                                                                    This was about as fair as you could get. Myself and the others had no idea who created them. I'm sure most did not care either. All designers did a real good job and it was very hard to pick the best one. As I said, went for the one I thought would convert the best by catching my eye first.

                                                                                                                    Grats to everyone with a job well done and adult.com for winning the race.

                                                                                                                    For lens, fuck having another contest, you guys won, flash didnt win it for you the design and layout did.

                                                                                                                    I would say the contest was very fair, I did not vote for amps site or the adult.com site, both did a very good job but not what my eye was looking for that day

                                                                                                                        First off, let me say that I think the best designs did win. It was judged fairly, as the judges are smart, professional guys who know their shit.

                                                                                                                        However, I think it was a bad idea allowing sites that are made by or developed for the companies giving away prizes. Thats a rule that every contest I've ever seen has. Otherwise, you should expected this to happen, I know I did..

                                                                                                                        Allowing new sites into the "re-judging" of the original contest also was not really fair. As far as I know, it was not a new contest, and the deadline for the original contest had passed..

                                                                                                                        But definatly do NOT do another one. This was the first contest, and wasn't perfect.. learn from the mistakes and I'm sure next years will kick ass.

                                                                                                                        Good job Lensman, you picked good judges, and the best sites that were up for voting won.

It was about getting together to show everyone what we could do and network with other designers and all the people on GFY for that matter. Some networking went bad alot went bad what the hell am I talking about but I met some kool ass people out of this and got some business and thats what matters to me!

                                                                                                                                                                                                who needs another round anyway? what are people trying to achieve here? the top 3 designs were indeed the top 3 designs (both times), and that's that. and it's funny that #2 and 3 never complained they weren't #1. this is what professionalism means.

                                                                                                                                                                                                get back to business and prepare better for next year. i'm sure things will be much more structured next time (if after all that whining there is a next time at all). babies ;)

                                                                                                                                                                                                    I voted on what i thought would convert the best as my primary vote with absolutely no knowledge as to who designed what.... much less even knowing that there *was* a previous contest.

                                                                                                                                                                                                    As you can see I apparently voted for amp's & adult.com's sites.

                                                                                                                                                                                                    Maybe the reason that lens can afford to buy tv's (unlike me.. cause i still have to put my gerbil on the treadmill just to generate enough electricity for my toothbrush) is cause he is only buys designs that convert.

                                                                                                                                                                                                    In any case.. ahem...

                                                                                                                                                                                                    I'll be willing to bet that within 30 days, everybody who owns, reads or posts on this board will either be REALLY pissed at or quite fascinated by our upcoming creations for one reason or another ;-)
