10 years ago, the big boys offered dial up and they still offer it. For folks making new sites, is this now a courtesy or a necessity? is this necessary? Would you add it if you started a site today. thanks.
Dail up: Are you bothering with it?

I always try and make my sites clean and as light as possible.
The reason behind that is a "few" folks do use dial up but I am not so worried about them as the rest.
More important is for the slower broadband users the satelitte users and for simple sales sake I load em fast.
You have 30 seconds in which to capture a surfer's attention. Dial up or broadband. I am not going to waste that 30 seconds loading 45 megs of overblown graphics or too flashy flash.
Hit them fast and hard or lose them to the guy who will.Comment

I've never seen any unbiased, credible stats that show broadband vs. dial-up users. The DSL, Cable and Satellite vendors want you to believe you're living in the dark ages if you don't have high-speed internet yet. But, I have to believe with all the advertising NetZero, Netscape, PeoplePC and AOL do for dial-up customers, this market still must be very significant. Big companies spend big bucks on marketing. Their research must show it's money invested wisely. So, I wouldn't and don't ignore dial-up people.Comment
