I agree it's extremely distasteful.
But police didn't target an 84 year old woman - they targeted a group of protesters who were refusing direct orders from police. This also included a priest and a nineteen year old pregnant woman.
And it's not like police walked up to an 84 year old woman and pepper sprayed her. I'm guessing police gave multiple warnings telling people to leave, and most likely told them they would be pepper sprayed. They had the option of leaving, and failed to do so.
