I think it was Matt from http://www.scriptarchive.com/ who created the first one - wwwboard. But I could be wrong on that, it's just the first that I know of.

          Blogs? Hmmm.

Blog software is a fairly recent development. Many, many years ago, software and particularly game developers use to keep online weblogs of things they were working on. Blues News was THE major gaming site of the day (like 96, 97 or so) and you could find pretty much all the ID game guys and whatnot posting weblogs and keeping the gaming community up to date on what was going on.

Pretty good history on wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blog - not entirely correct, but nothing is ever entirely correct there I guess.

              Ironically, a guy named Dave.

The chicks at Salon were the first to put it in practice IMHO.

Note: Some would say Justin Hall or Steve Gibson but those were just online journals.

The wave of blogs as we know them ith feeds and stuff didn't hit until 1997 and Dave was one of the originators, Dave.

What, did you expect me to say something like,

'The female journalists at Salon wanted the best way to express their feelings, rant about life & talk shit about men while having as many people hear it as possible (as most women do), so of course they were the first to put RSS to use. It was the ultimate "Look at me" web tool."

But no, that would be mildly chauvinistic and I'd never say that.

I have been blogging since 1995. I didn't know to call it that, I was just writing online every day and ended up with a pretty huge base of loyal readers.

I didn't do it for money though. Just wanted to ramble on.
