    How does Adult SEO work

Ok, so besides the standard ways to optimize your code and directory submissions, how does adult SEO work? I keep hearing about how adult SEOs are very skilled and so on, and I'd be fascinated to hear how it differs from non-adult SEO.

    Any thoughts, comments, etc.?

Adult SEO works exactly the same as it does for any other site. It’s just that adult sites don't generally work like other sites. You don't have tens of thousands of shoe salesmen all banning together to trade traffic on the Web. But that's what you have in the adult industry, tens of thousands of people generating bits of traffic and pouring it all into one big torrent of porn. The experts you heard about in the adult industry are experts at funneling traffic, SEO work is secondary. That's not to say it's unimportant, just that partners in traffic drive the porn industry.

      Hi SEO Montreal

Its true that there are tuns of adult webmasters, however, most do not have a clue when it comes to proper SEO methods... I would say on the average less then 5% of adult webmasters know how to Search Engine Optimize their sites... Instead what they do is use underhanded methods, also known as "black SEO" as to trick the search engines and or their partners as to try to show that they have more traffic or higher rankings within the search engines as to gain linking with the webmasters who actually have some traffic... A whole lot of CJ traffic...

I have watched the online porn community for a while now and if you know what your doing with the search engines when it comes to SEO and you have a strong business ethics... you should do just fine.

      PS

If you do any SEO work for webmasters on GFY... make sure you have the money in your hands first, before you start and also that you have proper contact info... no PO boxes ! ... Don't post quotes or your business practices on GFY and or give reasons why your doing what your doing when it comes to SEO... the reason is that there are tuns of NOOBS who read what others say about the subject and take such as fact... without doing proper research and will post within your thread(s) stating why your methods are crap...

      Best of luck,

      .

This Loser doesn't have a clue how to seo, or do anything else for that matter. I hired him, and it was the worst decision i ever made! He'll say I still owe him 150, lol, because he's a retard and doesn't know how to cash a money order, but his services were a joke. Just check out his shitty tgp.....I think it has a pr of 0. Don't listen to anything this moron has to say! Nuff said!

Just make sure that you don't do any 'Black SEO'. Google seems to think that I did, because I gave all my pics the same alt text. I didn't even do that for SEO just cause I can't possibly personalize the alt tags on every single one of the photographs on my site.. WTF

This Loser bcdjudo7 does not know the fist thing about SEO !

This Loser bcdjudo7 does not know the first thing about SEO or how to do business... this is a fact... What this Loser bcdjudo7 wanted was "black SEO" done first of all and once she was told exactly what was needed to do a professional job she went real cheap !!! To her SEO is buying a automatic script that fixes everything...

Also I am using XML/XSLT for my tgp and such is a bit harder to index into the search engines... besides this... my tgp is free for others to post without a membership... If you have interest in posting please click here.

Has anyone actually got a membership to this loser's site and checked out her membership area... If you have seen it you would have no doubt that this loser is over priced and the content and the layout is of poor quality; but feel free to get a membership from her...

This loser bcdjudo7 had no intention of paying me and was told it was necessary for proper contact info... but she would not make good !

Kesey, your "partners in traffic drive the porn industry" statement is right on target. Just a great post, overall. My only friendly disagreement is that I don't think SEO is secondary. Any successful adult SEO campaign should, by default, include optimization for traffic funneling and link building. If it's not part of your SEO plan, revise it.

Thanks for putting my picture up! LOL! Free advertising! Anyone that's read posts from this jackass knows he's clueless. Can't even open a fucking bank account to cash a money order??? I have no script for seo, not sure what you're talking about, unless you mean my linking script? Black seo , huh? LOl! Ok, I buy one way links with propper anchors, use propper key word density as recommeneded by google and yahoo, which is 2% and 5% respectively, and wow.........I show up under highly searched key word phrases.

There's so many tools to use for this that are free to check your key word density, as well as do keyword research. It was easy. Am I a seo expert, hell no, but i've learned enough to get good placement and good traffic without paying someone like this moron to do it, who by the way has no clue what he's doing. I don't care what script you're using. I could piss on a site and get it a better pr then 0! LOL! My paysites have a highter pr than your freesite! Are you kidding?

This guy says everyones content sucks that he doesn't get along with. Which is just about everyone. As I said before , anyone that would like to check out my content, I'll get you a 1 day pass if you're interested in promoting me or my other site. This moron loves to criticize, but doesn't even have his own paysites, just some shitty free site.

If you're going to pay someone to do seo, do good research and plan on paying quite a bit. Anyone that does it dirt cheap....well.....let's just say there's prob a reason for that! Besides, it's not hard to do it yourself if you just do a little research. You don't have to be an expert to get good results .

And yes, bcdjudo7 is Tia Ling! LOL!

thanks for the fyi on the whole trading traffic stuff. I didn't realize that that was the primary way people ran their adult sites. Seems to me that if you could figure out how to characterize fungible traffic so that you could discover it in mainstream industries you could make a killing.

as to the flamers, guys, please cut it out. I'm just trying to find out if there are any more advanced things happening in the adult world I might care to know about.

BTW, friendly tip on the alt tags: making them all the same ("big boobs" for example) is a tipoff to spam. Either individualize them, code or find a script that does (without spamming, ergo "jane doe boobs 1" "jane doe boobs 2"), or leave em blank. Besides, in the adult industry, I don't think that making content accessible to the visually impaired can make a big difference, with all due respect to those people (that's the point of alt tags ... alternative to images that can be read by screen reader type browsers).

Hey, I'm glad you like some of the posts.

Consider the disagreements an honor. It means you touched a hot topic.

Yep, adult sites trade traffic. It would be a trick to do it in the mainstream industry, however. You don't have millions of people typing "running shoes" in Google every 10 seconds. But you do sure as hell have millions typing "Big tits" every few seconds -- that's why people can trade traffic: There's more of it than Google can judiciously handle.

At any rate, good luck with your idea to apply adult traffic methods to mainstream Web sites. Could be a boon if you find the right keywords. There's gotta be something besides "big tits" that's typed in Google ten million times a minute.

A friendly tip from another: the bots/spiders can still read the html text of the alt tags, so write them with keywords to help your search results.

Kesey, if you and I both had digital slr camera enthusiast websites, couldn't we trade traffic? What would the volume of interest have to do with it? I realize that one of the biggest reasons people go online for is porn, but I don't see the relation between there being a large volume of a certain type of traffic and it being tradeable. My understanding was that adult webmasters can trade traffic because it's fungible. This porn watcher and that one are basically equivalent...

I realize that one of the biggest reasons people go online for is porn, but I don't see the relation between there being a large volume of a certain type of traffic and it being tradeable. My understanding was that adult webmasters can trade traffic because it's fungible. This porn watcher and that one are basically equivalent...
Hmm. I'm kind of stumped. Very tired at the moment. Not sure if what I say is even close to correct or not but I'll take a shot. Sure, we could trade digital SLR camera traffic, but I believe the quantity would be a factor. For one, if the keywords for the traffic are less competitive, Google will be a wee bit more lenient with us. We can optimize a site, get some links, and Google won't immediately sandbox us for six to nine months; it will start giving us traffic relatively quickly, like within the first three months.

Still on quantity: If I know there is not a lot of digital SLR camera traffic, however, why would I want to trade traffic with you? I might be like: Hey, there's only so much, I got my mine, you get yours. Just a thought. But I do think the hundreds of millions of porn queries Google gets play a role in people being willing to trade traffic, and the way Google deals with it: The terms are so competitive, Google tends to favor sites with longevity, sites with the most content, and sites it knows it won't overwhelm if it sends them, say, 100,000 unique visits per day. Those sites can then get links to and from other sites and share the traffic. And affiliate programs play a huge role in this. People tend to be more willing to share when they make money sharing. Enlightened self-interest.

To the fungible issue: Hmm. I'm not so sure about that. For example, I've heard traffic from Asia does not convert that well. And that maxim does tend to hold true for me. People from Japan, India, and China download a lot from my free galleries but rarely, if ever, join. So, if someone wanted to trade Asia traffic with me, it would be like, thank you, but no. (Canadians do tend join, by the way, god bless them all).

Still on fungible: Video searchers v. text searchers. Sorry to be crude, but . . . here we are: If someone goes to Google, clicks Video or Images, searches for "ass fucking" and finds free images/video on my site, they are not all that likely to join because they already know how to find free stuff. They might. But not likely. But, if someone goes to Google and just uses the basic Web search to look for ass fucking and finds my site, that person is three or four times more likely to join. Sites that rank high in basic text searches get better traffic than sites that rank high in picture and video searches -- in my experience anyway.

One last thing and then I crash and burn: Searches that go directly from Google to my site are generally better traffic, regardless of whether they are text, image or video searches. Say some guy searches for "strapon lesbians" and finds a picture gallery, he goes from that one to the next one, to the next one, and then finds my site. He's not likely to join because he's numb to it all and probably doesn't even know which domain he's on or whether he can trust me to have original content or just be a mirror of some other site. So traffic straight from Google to a site is generally better than traffic that's been passed around. The surfer tends to be oriented and fresh.

I sum: I don't believe all porn traffic is created equal, but, really, I haven't been doing this all that long, don't understand a lot about trading traffic, and there are people on this board who can probably prove me wrong. And like I said in my first post in this thread: The majority prefer to trade traffic and do SEO as a back-up strategy. (I prefer SEO but that?s just me)

That said, if you can convince mainstream businesses to band together to share traffic and revenue -- that would probably be genius. You get 25 camera, film developers, framing businesses to post pics and optimize them, write articles and optimize them -- the whole bit and then get them to share that traffic and cash, yeah, it might work. Call it Picture Dollars.

Good luck. And good night :-)

So as I understand it, there's a possibility for people to trade traffic because the great volume of it means that it gets funnelled from the big sites to more niche sites that pay the big boys commissions? Whereas if there were less traffic to begin with (and obviously less generalized traffic), then people would be more competitive about getting those rarefied surfers and less willing to share? Because the search would already be at the "niche level" if you will...

Fascinating points about the fungibility of traffic. I guess it depends on your conversion metric, because my tits.st had a fair amount of Asian traffic, but they were clicking my parking ads, so it "converted" if you will.

Also on the video vs text... I guess that goes to the sophistication of the searcher, and obviously newbs are going to be easier to convert than comparison shoppers and free porn watchers.

Thanks for all the explanation Kesey!
