Spam Me With Simple Host & Domain Name Sellers

I'm in the process of setting up my own website for my portfolio. My thought was to use Wordpress, since I'm pretty familiar with it. I've used GoDaddy before to purchase hosting and a domain name, but that was for a completely different project.

It's going to be a very simple site - so no need for massive bells and whistles. I've checked my desired domain names on GoDaddy and they are all available. Just need an idea of what alternatives to look for.

Thanks in advance, fellas and ladies!

I'd start by looking for an alternative to godaddy. Don't use them for shit.

Most any host will work fine for what you're doing.

      Thanks. Any suggestions to alternatives?

I like namecheap for domains. Hosting is really up to you. Hosts are becoming so similar that it's just a matter of preference. I personally use securedservers.com, linode.com and greengeeks.com. Avoid anyone with a bad reputation like godaddy.

GoDaddy is good for domains with coupon codes. Their hosting is good for simple html or very basic scripts. For hosting wordpress type sites I would go with stronger hosting or less people on the servers. I have had a vps with Liquid Web with zero problems.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'll go check them out now.

If you don't mind me asking, why is GoDaddy so disliked?

Constant, annoying upsells, shady billing practices, downtime, shitty customer service, oversold servers, Bob Parsons.

                Google "godaddy sucks" and enjoy.
