He's just demonstrating what he thinks of affiliates and his attitudes. Just say thanks for the information and act accordingly.
FYI- the attitudes of reps don't just form in a vacuum. They are usually passed along from upper management and other colleagues. Can't say I'm surprised here after recent events.
OP- Unless this happens to someone else then it sounds like it might be your bank which has the issue. It's suspicious that they wouldn't tell you why the check is no good.
