If the Tea Party is so superior to OWS then why...

...isnt the Tea Party a global movement? They have been going much longer have much more finance and media support.

Occupy is now in over 70 countries world wide.

A Revolution is not a tea party..
In November, you can vote for America's next president or its first dictator.

Because the Tea Party focuses on the US instead of just flinging shit on a wall to see what sticks?

        Heck yeah!

        Go team go!

Oh...I see, now they are just like a sports team competition. Just the same thing we've done with Republicans and Democrats.

That way none of us ever look at actual issues or realize it's the government who is fucking all of us.

But GO! GO TEAM! I totally and blindly support: ~insert name of political party or "movement" here~

The Tea Party is supposed to be comprised of persons interested in following the Constitution, limiting the federal government and reigning in excessive federal spending. It's strictly a US movement. Many people identify Tea Party as a racist group but realistically its far from that.

Occupy is people pissed off at bankers and money people. Many people identify Occupy as lazy hippies, although it's probably far from that as well.

There's really not a lot of connections between the two. Realistically, in the US, it would seem logical that the Occupy movement move on DC and protest against legislators rather than the money establishment. The Money is controlled by the legislators (probably the other way around is more likely though). They should be getting mad at the government for allowing the Money system to run amok IMO.

You really didn't think that would happen from the start? lol I mentioned it was gonna turn to a right vs left thing from the start. The Right wingers have been bashing OWS from the start calling them hippies or unemployed, spoiled kids.. ect..ect Despite the fact that both groups have similar demographics OWS just has a slightly larger youth base but has been rapidly growing in numbers of every day Joes & Janes.

I think the reason they are protesting the money sector, is because they are going right to the top of the food chain. Protesting the govt wouldn't get the same result, as it's the money that corrupts the govt not the govt corrupting the money.

It's also not just a US issue as it's a global issue.. Which is why the same protests have started in other countries and turned to a single movement in a sense, despite that they are probably not even connected other than by using occupy names.

Personally I think OWS is still far to unrealistic with many of their demands for me to really support them. I agree with their basic message, but much of the other stuff is not realistic. They need to simply focus on the issues of money in politics and favoritism by the govt to the wealthy/big business and quit with the eat the rich stupidity.

There is nothing wrong with being rich or building a business empire. However the playing field simply needs to be leveled.

The government has the printing press and therefore are the only entity with the ability to "corrupt" money, not the other way around. I'm not sure why people still foolishly believe that you can buy the government off when they can just create their own artificial wealth.

Isn't the right to protest against the government the only thing protected by the Constitution? It has been a while, but I do not recall any mention of the right to protest against businesses.

Not a matter of superiority, but the Tea Party was effective clearing out Congress last election. Rather than demanding anything, they voted, the way it should be. Let's see if OWS can follow through where it really counts - voting.

Yep. The Right is doing to OWS just what the Left did in demonizing the Tea Party. It's all a big game to keep you and me from watching ALL of the politicians in Washington holding hands and funneling money everywhere while they spend trillions of dollars like drunken sailors on leave at a whorehouse.

You wouldn't be correct with that thought.

Abortion clinics are not the govt, but they are protested regularly. The westboro baptist tards are not protesting the govt, they are protesting funerals as anti gay extremists. You can also consider a workforce "strike" and their picket lines a form of protest that is focused at a business and protected by your rights to do so.

You have the "right" to protest what ever you want to protest in a peaceful manor and in public places. The biggest problem with the OWS movement is the sheer numbers of people protesting in an extended manor. By extended I mean they are taking up their protest in a sense 24/7 by turning parks into improvised campgrounds.

There is always going to be issues when there are that many people around for extended times. So I'm sure we will end up seeing more and more clashes and unfortunately if the Police keep trying to put down the protest by force I'm sure sooner or later things will get much uglier from the side of the protestors in retaliation.

America as a whole has a pretty good track record of being pretty civil with it's protest and have had very few riots in the last 50 or 100 years compared to even other western countries in Europe and so forth.

However I'm pretty sure regardless of who is right or who is wrong or whom started it.. if Police continue to escalate then the protestors will eventually fight back somewhere. The Oakland police have already upped the ante for every protest currently going on around the country by their actions. This means protestors will be more on the edge with any police action which is kind of a self feeding problem.

There is always resistance to force, the city would have been better off to suck face and try to accommodate the protestors. Rather than think they would solve anything with brute force. The police have essentially escalated the protest at this point, which will only cause further flash points.

You can buy a government off, when you put a system in place where banks and rich corporations can spend endless amounts of money to influence or buy elections. This is why it's not enough to protest the government. You have to protest against those who spent the money to place their own self interest in charge of running the government.
