Amp, I can understand your point of view but why dont you for a few seconds look at theirs.

They, and a lot of other people on this board believe the voting was unfair. In a poll run afterwards the actual general consenus was that it was unfair. People, like yourself, put a lot of hard work into their designs. Virtually all designs apart from yours were non contract based ie done by the designers for no pay but so that they could participate in what was a great idea, your idea, that had generated vast interest around the world.

I think the mis understanding with regard to the rules and the placement of branded names was partly to blame. However lets face facts this was the first competition, people will know different next time. What we should actually be looking at is how to make the next design competition a sucess where by nobody feels cheated.

Look at the excitement and speculation working up to this event, it was the design hype equivilant of Tyson V Lewis.

Lets try to learn from mistakes from this competition to make the next one an even greater sucess.

Reflect on the past with a view to making the future better.

Hi Amp,

I had decided to stop, and have nothing personal against you, I like you cos you're a nice guy. But since you ask, and I feel betrayed by this whole contest -

1. Why were you posing as Mrs. Amp all this while?

2. You had the time and internet connection to update your site OA with the new mafiaporn tour and the GFY winning contest logo a couple of hours after 'winning the contest', and ICQ people, but could not post on the messageboard as Amp - why?

3. Who told you the judges names? And why? Did you have any hand in choosing the judges? If you did not know the judges names, who told your split personality Mrs Amp the judges names?

4. How could you enter a contracted site in the competition?

5. Did you honestly design the whole site after 31st May? Looks like Snow contracted you the site and it does not look like he did so on June 1st. When did he contract you the site, how many days did you take an dwhen did you begin the design?

6. How could you use images created much before the competition date? That includes the logo and 11 other screencaps.

7. How could you use someone else's creations in your design and take unspoken credict for them, and the prize? There seem to be 12 images not created by you in the winning tour. The logo and the 11 screencaps of other sites.

8. In case you have designed those 11 other sites, did you do so within the alloted time frame?

9. Was it fare to be first put through a flawed voting script and then judged by 4 graphically inept people?

If no to any of these violation of rules, since the contest was your idea and so were many of the rules including the time allotment and no previous images rule, you should forfeit the prizes and self-disqualify yourself. That would be the right thing to do.

if i can add my 2 cents, this is all heresay, but is it true that on the mafiaporn design that was in the contest, that amps company name was somewhere on the site? if this is so, and i dont recall if it was, id be incliend to think that people would vote for it highly just knowing it is amp and his reputation for being a good designer.. also more of a popularity contest.... shrug.... something that came up in a conversation I had this weekend....

And yes, the tour was bltantly recognisable by yours by anyone who had seen your previous tours. Everyone knows those fonts.

So that's like everyone knows the designer is the guy with the most posts on this board, and everyone knows the website in question, it is a great new idea created by Snow and made known to everyone over the past few months.

With these two things not expecting a bias would be idiocy. You should not have entered this site in the contest. This was like entering a Playboy site with their copyrighted logo and content in a website contest where everyone else has designed brand new concepts and tours and asking people to vote.

Not my fault. I never said you could not eneter a client tour. I said from the beginning that it needed to be new. Meaning: Fresh.... not an old tour pulled from your portfolio..... hell, I could've pulled a tour from last year and entered that. Doesn't mean you could reuse elements or whatever..... just make something new was all I asked. People interpreting too deep is not my fault or problem.

And if there really is a Mrs Amp, I'm taking into consideration the .00001 % chance there is, how does she know all about and vouch for the reliablity and the fair judgement of all the judges in the contest? She (or you) has been talking about the fairness of the judging even before the judging began, and in all fairness, if she could be that confident in them, I suspect something fishy.

I didn't have a clue who any of the designs were by. But i'll say this, i gave 3 sites a 9 out of 10, and the mafia porn site was one of them.

If you ask me, one of the 3 sites that i felt should have one, did win. Fair enough for me.

Hmm,

I dont care either way.... I just thought it was a great idea for all the designers to have a shot at showing some great skills.

As for what KMAN said, Did Amp have his name on it? If so I thought that meant he was cut from the comp? I dont know if it was and to tell you the truth I dont really care.... His design was obviously one of the best there...

I think it is a good starting point for next year.... I wanna do another one now.... !!!!

Well just my thoughts. Will let all you guys scrap over who is right and wrong. But well done to all the designers that enter.. Good to see

Are you guys talking about the fonts on the Mafia Porn tour?

It's either arial black or verdana. LOL. Pretty much available to anyone in the universe and used frequently on tours because it's a large, bold, easy to read font that scales well to large sizes.

I was an observer during the judging. I had zero input, and the judges can verify that. But, yes. I was present in the room. I wanted to make fucking sure it was an honest judging.

Snow actually contracted the site in May.... due to client overload, I did not design the tour until mid-week, first week in June. The tour was done during the first week in June. I had NO time to do something on the side for this contest and I asked Snow if I could enter his new tour as my contest entry. He said yes, and so I did. I uploaded it the day before the deadline.

The screencaps first: FUCK those screencaps.... I took those myself the day of the comp..... blow me.... those are as new as they get. The logo? Snow wanted his tours branded with his logo. The voting was flawed before it even started. We knew people would cheat to get higher rankings. Which is why there were judges to decide the ACTUAL winning sites. Graphically inept? PLUS: ou5r preselected judges were not available that day and replacments had to be found. We found some, we used them. They were professional, adult, non-biased, fair, and honest. Everyone knew I was competeing from the beginning. If you had a problem with that, you should have voiced it then. Not now. I considered withdrawing many times. But I did not administer this thing. JPFDude did. I merely overseed it and helped out where I could. Again, it was no secret that I was a competitor from day one. Arial black is not really a font that can be considered Amp's signature. It's an old font used frequently because, as I said before, it's big, bold and scales well to large sizes making it perfect for drawing attention and standing out.

This is a stretch. No one is going to use a font that sucks and is hard to read, and if they do, they don't deserve to win a design contest.

Anyone who has seen Amp's designs could have recognised this one was his by the font, and the color scheme and the arrows coming in from the side was almost exactly picked up from his last deesign. So it was quite blatantly recognisable as his. Not sure how much that violates the rules, but it's another of those bias things.

Hypo, you are way out of control now. I think you've been talking to Oliver Stone too much.

Are the top designers supposed to make shit designs just so no one can recognize their style?

Everyone's seen Amp's work. This wasn't a trial by jury. No need to find 12 people in the adult business who are expert graphics people but have never heard of anyone in the competiton or seen their work before.

How can a contestant OVERSEE a contest to the extent of being present in the same room with the judges? JFPDude was doing the managing, it what were you doing in that room besides creating bias? You thought jfpdude and Tam would cheat so you inserted yourself there to MONITOR them?????

You knew the rules. It was your WORK, not meant to be entered in the contest, not sticking to its rules, so you should have got paid for it and been happy, NOT entered in a contest breaking rules put forth by you.

If you are a man, just disqualify yourself from the contest and give toonX the first prize, who most people wanted to be first anyway.
