    the ugly truth

    http://www.latimes.com/news/local/lo...tory?track=rss

"These are not just economic achievement gaps, they are racial achievement gaps," O'Connell said after his annual release of California's standardized test scores. "We cannot afford to excuse them; they simply must be addressed."

In the past, the differences between groups have sometimes been "explained away," O'Connell said, by the fact that black and Latino students are more likely to be poor.

"The results show this explanation not to be true," he said.

The test results reveal that, in math, poor white and Asian students outperform black and Latino students whose families are not poor. In English, non-poor Latino students barely outperform poor whites, and non-poor African Americans lag further.

Nevertheless, the data are in line with various studies over the last decade showing that African American students in particular fare worse than whites or Asians on various measures of achievement, even when they come from middle-class families.

The white empire is collectively the smartest group of humans to ever walk the planet. I am so proud of my race.

You don't know how happy I am to get this story. For years even I believed that income MIGHT be a factor in neglets performing poorly in school. Now we have proof that it's just their shitty upbringing.

Eventually we as an American society are going to have to think about taking the extreme measures the Chinese have taken to curb population growth. Only we will be looking at enforcing it upon negros only. Their race is just getting dumber and dumber, and they are getting more violent too. Is it possible that negros are in a form of reverse evolution? I have considered that may be the case. If so, it's not their fault and they should be branded unfit.

As for the report, it touches on of the realities of nature that anti-discrimination groups have spent years trying to bury:

You get your skills and abilities in life from your parents, your grandparents, and so on back many generations. When someone says "oh, your baby has your eyes" they aren't realizing that he also has your long legs, your small ears, and your receding hairline. He also likely got at least some of your natural ability in math and probably will never do well at basketball.

The "It's RACIST!" mentality that is used to silence anyone who touches on the subject is funny and sad to watch. It is amazing how under pressure from the group and the politicians how we can all be cowed into ignoring the truths that are in front of us.

There was a guy who did research on that up here in Canada years ago, I believe his name was Rusthon, which was saying basically the same thing.

There was a major uproar and he had a televised debate with David Suzuki to try to show his proof. Most people just accused him of being racist and that was the end of that.

Maybe some Canadians will remember this:

Thomas Sowell is a gem and pretty much on the mark, without fail.

Well among blacks it generally looked down upon to want to be well educated. Not sure when this started. Going back to slave days and all the way up to the civil rights movement most blacks wanted to be as well educated as whites and many risked and gave up their lives for that right. Now most young black just want to hang out in the hood and be thugs and sell crack drinkin 40s and smokin blunts.

What some portray as "authentic black culture" is actually a relic of a highly disfunctional white southern redneck culture. This in turn came from the ?Cracker culture? of certain regions in Britain, mainly the harsh English borderlands, origin of many 'cracker' migrants. Sowell gives a number of examples that he regards as supporting the lineage, e.g.

an aversion to work, proneness to violence, neglect of education, sexual promiscuity, improvidence, drunkenness, lack of entrepreneurship,? and a style of religious oratory marked by strident rhetoric, unbridled emotions, and flamboyant imagery.

Sowell also provides figures to support his argument that there was a far bigger divide between the cracker/redneck culture and the North than between white and black. E.g. Northern blacks tried to stop redneck blacks coming up from the South, and the same happened between northern whites and redneck whites. This thesis is the title essay of Sowell's book Black Rednecks and White

I am opposed to racial discrimination.

I also have no problem with discussing such issues as were raised in the LA Times article. However, as we can see already in this thread, some people will use portions of the article to promote their racist views. That's unfortunate.

The good thing is that the focus of the educators in the article, is on how to close the gap by making the necessary improvements.

I would suggest that it's a matter of socio-economic class, education and inherited attitudes towards education and achievement, rather than strictly genetics.

it's the culture: culture is the mechanism by which a society functions. a society not functioning well, first look to the culture.

I also have no problem with discussing such issues as were raised in the LA Times article. However, as we can see already in this thread, some people will use portions of the article to promote their racist views. That's unfortunate.

The good thing is that the focus of the educators in the article, is on how to close the gap by making the necessary improvements.
