    Who Says Racism Is Dead? It lives here on GFY and in Louisiana.

    Aug. 20-27, 2007 issue - It began with a seemingly innocuous question. At an assembly during the first week of classes last fall at Jena High School in rural Louisiana, Kenneth Purvis, a junior, asked the vice principal if he could sit under the shady boughs of an oak tree in the campus courtyard. "You can sit anywhere you like," the vice principal replied. Soon thereafter, Purvis and several black friends ventured over to the tree to hang out with some white classmates. According to the school's unspoken racial codes, however, that area was reserved for white kids; Purvis is black. Some white students didn't look kindly on the encroachment: the next day, three nooses hung from the oak's branches.

                                          Racism will never be dead. It influences every area of our lives. I am part native american, though I look white. There is more opportunity for me in society compared to someone who looks native american. That could be when I'm approached by the law, looking for a job, or just talking with a stranger. It's not just here and Louisiana, it's everywhere.

                                              However, more accurately, it is instituitional policies that cause discrimination and inequality and racial preferences.

                                              "Affirmative action" and "diversity" are the new euphemisms for racial preferences.

                                                                          Funny how no one talks about the "other" racism in this country... admitting kids to universities because they are black instead of because they are capable, or hiring them to posts in law enforcement or fire fighting because the department needs to fill its quota, not because the candidates are the top of the applicant pool.

                                                                                      - some black people thought there was a form of rascism
                                                                                      - these back people willingly provoced a group of children from their normal playing grounds
                                                                                      - these black people kicked these in the head multiple times in a row willingly to kill that person
                                                                                      - these black people did all they could to cover up what they started by going to the press and covering it up
                                                                                      - these black people know think they are being charged only because of rascism, the nr1 excuse in the world for black peope raping, murdering and alike

Take a white kid who never had anything against blacks and keep getting him denied college admission, jobs or promotions to less qualified black peolple and see how he turns into a racist.

                                                                                          This is 2007 not 1957. No need for affirmitive action in college admissions. I don't think you can find asngle case anywhere where a black kid would get denied into college just because he's black. And if there was such a college WHY would he want to go there anyways? I wonder how many white kids get denied acceptance into traditionally black colleges?

                                                                                                      Sometimes, it's not mean't in any way to be harmful or offensive - it's a leftover from the past which was inbred and would never leave an individual and going to take generations for that to fade away.

                                                                                                      Sadly, least from the link story, a young generation still has this legacy to resolve - they got it from somewhere
