PCs are definitely less popular, but I think they're making a comeback. Game developers are designing new engines that can't be used on tablets or consoles.
Serious gamers are going to dump their consoles that use a P4, Radeon 1900series with DX8, (xbox360) for these new games that can only be played on powerful PCs.
On-top of that, 3D displays without the need for glasses are right around the corner. 3D gaming at ultra high resolutions on multiple displays is something that will become more mainstream.
That's just my speculation though.

I could see Apple designing something to compete with something like Wii, but I think gaming in general is going to get a lot more sophisticated in the next 4-5 years and these little consoles with sub par hardware won't be able to keep up with the advancements in PC hardware.
This is an older demonstration harnessing DX10 / DX11, keep in mind this is ACTUAL game play.
Now imagine it in 3D on 3 1600p, (2500X1600) monitors. It's all matter of gamer developers making the leap.
